Boot help

I'm going to buy some new hunting boots this winter. I've been looking at Irish Setter, Rocky, LaCrosse-- between 800-1000 gram thinsulate and also with gore tex. Can anyone tell me positive/negative experiences with these boots or recommend a boot in the 100-130 price range (or less would be great.) Thanks!

If your bowhunting from a stand, i would by 1000gram lacrosse knee high rubber boots, or something like that. If you walk alot and your hunting really tough ground, spend the money and get a pair of Danners or Schnells.

I bought a pair of the Irish Setters, 800 gram camo boots this year.

I hunt in Northern Wisconsin for gun season where it an gets really cold, and I only wore 1 pair of wicking socks, then 1 pair of sweat socks this year and my feet never got cold at all !! I do mostly standing, about 75% of the time. These are nice and light and in the price range, 130, that you are looking at.
I would recommend them !

Hey Sswpriz,

Do you know the specific model of Irish Setters you're talking about?

Don't overlook Cabelas brand also. Though they are non-insulated I bought a pair of Cabelas Whitetail Hunters with Goretex for $59 in the bargain cave a couple of months ago and i am very satisfied. I was looking at some Muck Woody Max locally but the store raised them to $159! No way. Here is a pair of insulated boots they(Cabelas) have on sale($105) right now that look decent to me:

61 reviews and rated 4.7 out of 5. 1200 gram with Dry-plus membrane, not Goretex. Cabelas Predator Extreme Pacboots:

I've owned a couple pairs of leather boots made by LaCrosse and they have fallen apart on me prematurely (sole and cracking below the laces).

I am using a pair of Cabelas Outfitter series boots now and really could not be happier.

Remember, it is so important to keep your leather healthy or it will go bad fast. Currently using a product developed for Idaho firefighters and sold by Cabelas.
