Hey Rob..other 82nd shooters
I am going to sell/or trade my '06 Tribute as I want a speed bow to compliment my Guardian, and my dealer told me that the '09 82nd has roller guard and string stopper improvements over the '08. Like your input on how much better you feel the '09's are over the '08's, if they even are in your opinions. Value wise and the latest gr8est, I want the '09. Would you definately get the '09 over the '08? Thanks, Don

RE: Hey Rob..other 82nd shooters
Do they still make the 82nd?
Did they discontinue the 101st? |
RE: Hey Rob..other 82nd shooters
82nd is a '09 model...no 101st. 82nd is the only model that came over from '08, and my dealer says it is gr8ly improved over the '08

RE: Hey Rob..other 82nd shooters
Don, the only difference I'm aware of from 08' to 09' is the relocation of the factory string stopper. Both models had roller guards.

RE: Hey Rob..other 82nd shooters
Right. I knew that; here is off of Bowtech's website for the description
The 82nd Airborne's mission is quick deployment in order to secure key objectives. Speed kills and that's just the way the 82nd Airborne likes it. The 82nd returns this year with a stockpile of enhanced benefits the adrenaline addict lives for. Improvements like a redesigned roller cable guard to increase efficiency and prolong cable life. And a new, repositioned string stop that opens up the sight window and halts vibration. Combined with the proven technology of the Binary Cam System and the 82nd Airborne’s proprietary Zero Tolerance Limb Pockets, this year’s 82nd Airborne definitely secures its objective… Sudden Death by Air! |
RE: Hey Rob..other 82nd shooters
Go to your dealer and shoot them and see which one is better for you!

RE: Hey Rob..other 82nd shooters
Thanks for the pm Scott(Buckeye) you are right on with what others have told me on AT. Ditch the factory string stopper and get an after market sts. I believe I am coming close to working out a deal with a guy that had a Tribute and wants one bad as he already has two 82nds. His is an 08. MeanV still building STS's?

I didn't order the 09 as I already had the MeanV on mine and saw no reason. I also know Ben/PA loves his 101. With your longer DL Don, your speeds should be very impressive. |
RE: Hey Rob..other 82nd shooters
Well, I just traded my Tribute for a 2008 82nd Airborne 60# 29" and we both will ship 2 each other Tues. I then have to set up my barebow. Think I am Going to go with a one pin site for the bad boy. I will put a MeanV on it. I hope I like it..I am sure I will. I too, have got used to the harsher roll overs as a Hoyt shooter for years.;) Thanks for the info and I am pumped.

RE: Hey Rob..other 82nd shooters
Just as an FYI... you can easily convert your '08 into an '09 model by ordering the new Stringstop and roller guard if you ever so desired.

RE: Hey Rob..other 82nd shooters
Thanks for the info

RE: Hey Rob..other 82nd shooters
I am seeing around 86 ft lbs of KE with mine at 62 lbs, and 95 ft lbs at 70 lbs :D
I just put some trimmed cat whiskers on the string and it made a huge improvement. |
RE: Hey Rob..other 82nd shooters
Would u guys with '08s and '09s post some pics so I can see the difference in the roller and the factory sts, as well as your after market sts? Thanks. I got the '08 and it will be here later in the week and I want to see the difference in the 2 years and want to see the after market stss u guys put on.

RE: Hey Rob..other 82nd shooters
What's up with the end of the string tied to the rest..is that a limb driver installed?
|
RE: Hey Rob..other 82nd shooters
Here is my '08 82nd.....

RE: Hey Rob..other 82nd shooters
pheasant...is that a stock bow? So what is your rest?
|
RE: Hey Rob..other 82nd shooters
Now I see the difference in the 08 and 09. Here is the 09 from the bowtech website. So Greg MO says I can order the 09 cable guide and install on my 08..this is what I will do...I will do away with the factory string stop and put a MeanV on....pheasant..anybody else. I assume the MeanV goes directly behind the stabilizer where the Bowtech emblem is?

RE: Hey Rob..other 82nd shooters
Yeah mine had a Limb Driver on it with the Limb Driven To the Maxx kit on it. It is super tuneable that way and easy to use. Btw, there is really no need in changing the rollers. The only difference is really how the end looks.

RE: Hey Rob..other 82nd shooters
Don, I have 2 08's and I left the Shortstop on and put a rpl rubber in it (much better) Also added a Mini MeanV on the lower mount and it is the quietest speed bow I have ever heard, or is that not heard?
While I think they have made a couple of improvements in the 09 I would hardly call them huge. After all it is hard to make Vast improvements in such a great bow. I have also come out with a new Mini MeanV model that is called the Maximum Mini MeanV. It is made from 7075 alloy instead of 6061. All feedback so far has been awesome. The 82nd is definitely my favorite bow now and took that place from the Allegiance. It is one Shooting/Grouping Son-of-A-Gun, and does it with Maximum authority. Dan |

MeanV(Dan) How dare you tease me with a glimpse of predator on your bow but not the entire bow.[:@] That is downright MEAN!! Now I know where you got your username.:D Alright, I will keep the factory stopper and add your doo dad I want my bow like yours or with the new alloy Mean V. I will be PMing you with questions and my order. Please tell me total cost of an 82nd dipped in predator and with your components added...either publically here or in a pm please. And I would sure appreciate a photo shoot of your 82nd in this predator camo. Thanks,Don

RE: Hey Rob..other 82nd shooters
Don, I'll tease you again!;)I think cost for complete package was around $250 including all shipping. Disassembly is a snap, but reassembly takes some time as refitting dipped parts is necessary. My Predator 82nd has worked Great and I have had no problems. It catches eyes where ever I take it.
The new Mini MeanV Maximum is $46 and that includes Priority shipping. Dan ![]() |
