antlers shedding

Today i heard of two diferent stories of people taking bucks with there antlers already off. Both are with in a day or two of today. I thought this to be very early to be shedding already. One of the guys said he was told it was because of a lack of acorns this year that made them shed early ? I'm not sure of the reason why . Does anybody know what causes them to drop and why ? Also what is happening in your area ,are you experiencing the same or not?

RE: antlers shedding

I just, 20/12/2008 @ 6:38 AM,looked at some pictures that came in from my smartscouter and saw a buck I had my eyes on, with only his left antler. I saw him last the night before on the camera andboth antlers were intact. He obviously lost it within the last 24 hours.
Unfortunately it may now be time to hang up the bow for the season, for me....honestly I felt quite sad when I saw the picture. Itcertainly gives a picture of the end of my deer season for 2008.
