Pin Size for hunting

I was looking at the new Axcel sight and thought about buying one. I think the pins are offered in .019 and .010..

I have always opted for .029 pins for hunting though. Is there a real advantage to .019 pins for hunting? I wish I could mix and match pins.. i.e. .029 for top two and .019 for bottom two..

What are you guys using?

.019 for hunting. .010 for target.

I like having an 029 top pin & the rest 019. Seeing as most sights are pretty bright these days having all 029 pins really blocks things out for me. My eyes are good, but I’m not sure they are that good for me to be going down to 010.

For hunting I use .029 and only use 1 pin most years. 2 pins is the most I've ever used...and even when I use 2, I've never had a problem with them both being that size. Target shooting would most def be different.

It's really a personal preference thing. Years ago, the old adage was to use .029 for hunting because they were more durable. Now, with the newer fibers out there that are incredibely flexible, you can use smaller diameters.

I like .019 for everything. I use Fitz fiber in my sites and the stuff is very durable. However, it will get brittle with time and need changed out.

Not only are the new pins more durable, they are brighter.

I hunted with .010 this year but I have.019's ordere for my new bow for next season. For hunting,I feel the .019's are just a little better fit.BUT,if I don't like them after using .010's,I can swap the housing off my old sight.

.019 is my preference for hunting. Small enough that it gives you a good field of view, but big enough to give me a nice bright pin. I only use 3 pins, but I could see how using a 7 pin sight or something, a .010 might be a better option.
