new boots??
 

alright... i have to buy a new pair of cold weather hunting boots. before i went to shop i figured i would ask on here to narrow it down a bit. i live and hunt in northwest iowa. the temps can get pretty cold. these will be boots for cold weather hunting only.... 30 degrees and colder. i already have a pair of light boots that keep my feet warm on stand during the early season. the boots would have to keep me comfortable in the temp range of -10 to 30 degrees... and i'm trying to keep the price less than 150-175. any suggestions?

i highly suggest rubber boots. they are scent free and dont allow water or wind in them. . i live in MN and have been in the worst cold imaginable: high winds and blowing snow and my boots have never failed me

by the way i have 1000 grams thinsulate. i have found that if you are gunna walk a lil ways and sit go 1000 or bigger if you are gunna walk a long ways to the stand go a little lighter say 800's.

Maybe I'm partial because I'm broke, but a GREAT value on the warmest boots I've ever had are US millitary "mickey mouse boots" or "bunny boots". They are made by Bata, and can be had for 30-40 bux on ebay

Rubber boots an great socks. Lacross boots are very well made.

cabela's pac-boots. Around $120 with between 1000-1200 of insulation.

A word of caution though....pac boots take a little getting used to with respect to climbing trees, b/c they're big. On the most bitter cold of days when stationary hunting(b/c I get VERY cold very fast) I throw a handwarmer in each boot and don't have any sort of problem.

When the weather gets cold and I'm in a stand, I wear my Danner 1600's with a sock liner and a wool sock. If I am walking and not standing for a long time I wear my 400 gram danners.

I just got a pair of LaCross Alpha Burly 1000g. I have had a pair of uninsulated Alpha Burly's for about 9 years. The durability of LaCross boots are really good.

I sit on stand in the 1000g Burly's in23* weather w/10-15mph winds and my feet never got cold.

I got them for $120 at a local outdoor store. Money well spent, IMO.

I wear rubberboots. This season though, I've been wearing my waders a bunch. They're really warm, you get the rubber boots, and you're waterproof up to your chest.

I have 800gram Danner's and love them for cold weather.....but I don't deer hunt in them.

I bought a 1200gram pair od LaCrosse's a couple seasons ago. I bought a pair of Muck Boots (400gram), last year. They're the ones with the neoprene upper. They are HANDS DOWN warmer than the 1200gram LaCrosse boots. I don't know whether it's the fact they let my foot breathe or what it is. But it's true. They allow me to stay on stand longer.....so they're worth every penny I paid for them (in your price range).
