Slick Trick?
I have been shooting G5's but I shot the Slick Trick standard 100g through my bow today and was really impressed.
I know this has probably been asked a thousand times but I cant find it. Anybody use them? If so what are your likes and dislikes? __________________ |
RE: Slick Trick?
Use them...love them. That being said, I think I may try Rage's next year. For one, I like trying new things out. Secondly, you can't really argue with the devastation they cause when you see post after post on here of entrance/exit wounds.

RE: Slick Trick?
My dad shoots them FYI i am 12 yrs old. He had good luck and he always had a passthrough but then he had no passthrough so i guess they would probably work allright.
|
RE: Slick Trick?
20 years of screwing with broadheads and arrows, the Slik Tricks may be my favorites....finally. Fly like bullets, and cut nice holes, and they are made of steel, much more durable than aluminum.
|
RE: Slick Trick?
Havn't heard a complaint about them.
|
RE: Slick Trick?
I have shot Rage, Satelitte Titans, and currently Montecs. I may pick up a pack of Slick Tricks though.
No real reason other than I like new toys. I love my Montecs, and can't really see me getting away from them to far. |
RE: Slick Trick?
I use them because they fly great exactly like my field points. Plus very durable. i have hit bone and a rock on a pass thru and it was ready forsharpening or a new blade with no damage . almost impossible to have a blade come off on a shot
|
RE: Slick Trick?
Fly like a field tip, durable, replacement blades are sold(which I like better than trying to resharpen and restraighten a damaged blade)and they put down an elk, 3 whitetail bucks, and one whitetail doe this year and all died quickly. I got passthrus on all of them with a 60 # bow. A/C/C shafts are the ticket too. Deadly combination. That, and of course Bowtech.

RE: Slick Trick?
Try them you won't look back! I went from std ST's to Grizztricks this yr and OMG...... devastation! Nothing can go wrong...... when you put the shot in the right place. very durable, rock solid. They won't gut and field dress deer like rage but they do the TRICK. I have 5 deer and one black bear in one yr thanx to slick trick. Every animal that was shot died and was found. Even one gut shot doe....... she went 125yds and died. I had to wait till morning on her but she was 20yds from the last sighting. ST's work

RE: Slick Trick?
Thanx gent's for all the reply's.
I went yesterday and picked up a pack of the standard 100g and sighted the bow in to them. I didn't have to move a thing!!!!!!!!!!! They penetrated better in the target than the G5's did and arrow flight was perfect. I'm sold on 'em!!!!!!!!!! |
RE: Slick Trick?
I haven't shot a deer with them yet but I can also attest to thier accuracy and man do these things fly fast! My only concern was how small they were but like everyone else has said, that doesn't seem to be an issue and keep in mind you can always upgrade to the magnum or the grizztricks and dude, you cannot beat the price for these things.

RE: Slick Trick?
![]() I like them alot. This was almost a straight downward angle shot, butshe only went about 35-40 yards. I really like how they fly |
RE: Slick Trick?
Well, as long as we're postin Slick Trick kills; mine from this year.
![]() Elk in NM.it was hot and I was in a hurry to get it boned out so by the time I realized I had not taken pics, she was boned out pretty well. Complete pass thru at 40 yds with a 60# Guardian. All kills posted here were taken with the standard 100 gr 4 blade slicktricks. All complete passthrus ![]() MO buck. ![]() MN whitetail ![]() MO whitetail doe ![]() MO whitetail buck |
RE: Slick Trick?
DUDE, you are killing me! Congrats on ALL of those fine looking species!

RE: Slick Trick?
Thanks!!! Been quite a year and I am still on cloud nine...one happy bowhunter. I am doe hunting on the ground now as I want a doe from a ground blind to top it off....plus it's cold out.
|
RE: Slick Trick?
First deer ever shot with them this year, the arrow went in the left lung and came out its back right leg, total pass through and she only went 30 yards, second kill was turkey which died instantly, also my friend this year killed 3 deer not sure how far they went but he got them all.

ORIGINAL: hardcorehunter Thanks!!! Been quite a year and I am still on cloud nine...one happy bowhunter. I am doe hunting on the ground now as I want a doe from a ground blind to top it off....plus it's cold out. Back on topic...... Slick Tricks (I use the Magnums) but they are the BEST FLYING Broadhead I've EVER shot. From Thunderhead, to Muzzy to whatever you've shot before, these things are the BEST you'll find. If you can't get Slick Tricks to fly well, you'll likely not be able to get anything to fly well. I have one particular head that has been through 2 deer, including a complete pass-through on the spine of one, and a pair of coyotes, and it's still in my quiver ready for service. |
RE: Slick Trick?
hardcorehunter....i know youve posted these pics a lot....but I just gotta say.... I love the color of that MN 8pt. I love that reddish color, but not the summer red. awesome looking.

RE: Slick Trick?
The ST's are the sharpest "out of the package" head I've found, plus they'revery durable and penetrate like a hot knife thru butter.
|
RE: Slick Trick?
Sorry about that Hardcorehunter...can clearly see split brows in the original pic, wasnt paying as much attention to the rack as I was the color lol. Beautiful deer, rack and hide

RE: Slick Trick?
No need to apologize..thanks..I like him too.

RE: Slick Trick?
FIRST THING, HARDCORE AWESOME YEAR FOR YA CONGRATS!
I tried them last fall, they flew awesome and looked to be built that way also. I was shooting a 70# 29" Switchback XT from 16 ft up. Shot was an easy 10 yds broadside. The buck had a big body on him but I still expected it to zip right throu him, I placed it right where I wanted it and was shocked at the lack of penetration but knew he was screwed because of the shot placement and he only went about 80 yds or so out into the field and tipped over. The slick trick mag looked like it had been shot into a gravel pit and was chewed up and completely dull. But it did kill him so thats was a good deal! I know from all the positive posts on them that I just had an oddball bad experience with them and that they are in fact a super head.Just not that Halloween morning. I went back to shooting my Gator XPs thou this season. ![]() ![]() entrance ![]() Beat up slick trick ![]() ![]() |
RE: Slick Trick?
Best broadhead I have ever shot. Fly like darts and tough as nails.
|
RE: Slick Trick?
Thanks 5575, and that is one dandy of a buck u have there!!! Many a man will never get a buck like that in a lifetime. Congrats!!!

RE: Slick Trick?
5575gb........... that first pic is amazing!!!!

RE: Slick Trick?
Call me a horrible man if ya want. I have seen that top pic B4.It was on my PC as a background for awhile. If that is yours then congrats on a FINE pic.
AS for the head. your entrance was high on the left side. You blew clean through the shoulder blade of a BIG buck.......... close to a joint where the bone is thick. If that shot was 3" lower you would have cut through him like butter. He dropped w/in sight. You switched heads for what reason? You shot an awesome buck. You recovered it. All you had to do was change the blades and go hunting. Man was that buck a brute. I took 5 deer with St's this yr. 3 w/grizztrick's and 2 with standard heads. One was a spine hit and it looked better than yours when I got it out. I swapped the blades and it is as good as new. And another thing. You cut those hocks REAL high on the front. You would have had another 2-3lbs of grind if you cut them at the joint ORIGINAL: 5575gb FIRST THING, HARDCORE AWESOME YEAR FOR YA CONGRATS!
