Wrist release or hand release
Got a buddy who has a lot of releases and I tried a few hand releases yesterday. I really like the way it feels. It took a little to get used to but I think I am going to give it a try.
I was wondering what everyone here uses and why. |
RE: Wrist release or hand release
I just bought a thumb release the other day and really like it. I had never shot one before.....

pheasantfanatic........thats what I meant(thumb release, sorry I am stupid) It's a Carter 3 finger Chololate addication. The first thing I noticed was the bow seemed easier to pull(like I could pull more poundage with it) I flung about 30+ arrows yesterday and about the same with it today. It also seems to help me with "squeezing" the trigger. Tommorow I plan on shooting quite a bit, trying to sight the bow inpast just the 20yd pin.

Yeah, I noticed the exact same thing. I shoot a Bowtech 82nd and the draw is pretty stiff on it. With the thumb release, it seemed a lot easier to draw, and I am already shooting better...

RE: Wrist release or hand release
Anything is better than a finger trigger release IMO. I use one for hunting for obvious reasons but other than that, I personally believe that a finger trigger style of release makes it easier to develop bad habits. Think about it,what is the most spastic muscle in your hand? Definately the index finger. Personally, I like to shoot a finger trigger release with my middle finger. I shoot with back tension and using my middle finger makes it easier for me to pull through the shot, and not want to punch the trigger. Ihave a Carter Insatiable 2.

I use my Carter Just B Cuz for targets and hunting. Don't think I'll ever go back to a wrist/caliper type.

Forgot to mention, i will be using my insatiable for hunting as well.

you actually fire with your thumb ?

Trubal T-Handel, I really like it, I feel it has made me more accurate. The flaw with a wrist strap releases is that they always have to stay on your wrist, which can suck sometimes.
