Driveway Rub (pic)..

For the last 7 years Ive managed a property for a rich older guy in the suburbs (landscaping work), and every year I end up pulling a dead deer or two off the iron spiked fence that surrounds his property (which sits on the Ohio River). This year.. no nead deer, but a rub in his front yard driveway. (I planted this tree in the spring). Those suburban deer are crazy

Yup, unique to suburbs. Ask twildasin on his suburban experiences. Love hunting that situation.

If its the one I think it is, he beds in a drainage ditch near between their tennis court and the river. Young 8 pointer, prob 2.5
dave37--haha, ya I've thought about it.. Maybe when they go out of town:D

I had to get a pic of this after remembering this recent thread.I saw this rub on a young Maple tree on this persons front lawn just a few blocks from where I live. I was on my way to go hunting one morning and actually saw a nice 10pt not 50yrds from this house. He may have been the culprit. The crazy thing is there aren't any woods to speak of anywhere nearby.:DI'm actually standing in the street to take this pic.

Yep. I livein the suburbs just east of Pittsburgh on an acre of land. The localbuck population has played hell on the line of Spruce trees I planted as a windbreak on the west side of my property.

Pretty hard for me to keep shrubs on my place too. They are especially tough on my rhododendrons.

Not surprising though. It's all woods both north and west of my house.

early in--Thats a cool pic.
Update on the buck that I think made this rub..... Today at work I was dragging a tarp of brush and trimmingsto the bottom of the property, and as I'm about to dump it over the hill I look up and see this buck staring straight at me at about 30 yards. We just stared at each other forat least aminute and he finally flickered his tail and slowly walked away into a thicket. I guess he just hangs out in there... Its only about a4-5 acre woodlot butting up against the river.

Adam, was that a big buck that you saw? Like I said when I posted that pic, when the rut was underway I was going hunting one morning (around 4:30AM) and saw a really nice 10pt standing by a doe (I guess going into estrus) not more than 50yrds away from that rub. They were standing right next to street. There's no real woods anywhere near there, it's all big $ homes! Strange.[&:]

He wasn't huge, an 8 pointer, I'm guessing 2.5...prob 100"

Yea its crazy how these deer live in such small scattered parcels of timber.

It really is. They are incredibly adaptable creatures.
