Going back to the "no body to blame but yourself" thread," I'll let em go and just assume I messed up earlier in the year (likely multiple times) ruining my chances of taking a deer

that spike is going down, where I live does are as hard or harder to find then a spike, Just harversting a deer is an accomplishment regardless of the size or sex.

Not to mention if we have a winter like last year it is probably 50/50 at bestit makes it thru the winter

Tag soup everytime. Your situation is unrealistic for me though. Always enough does to go around. But given the circumstances you presented, I would eat my tag. I may regret it when my grill is begging for some venison steaks, but I've never had a year without plenty of venison. Scary thought though! []

Although, if "said" hunter relies on venison to feed his family- you can't argue with his decision TO shoot any deer he can.
I certainly don't "need" venison to feed my family. I just want it real bad. In that scenario, with no venison at all,the spike is going down. I think the difference between us is that the venison IS what I'm hunting for.

It's not a realistic scenario for me either, though.

If one is an actual hunter, then shoot em.
