A used top of the line bow of the past...
For example, find something like a 2007 for a good price, thats what I would do if I had 500 to put into a bow....
As far as what bow would I go for? Well last spring, I did this very thing, I bought a used 2007 Bowtech Allegiance, shoots awesome, I'll likeley not a have a new for quite a while....

A martin is my next bow b/c they come with all the cam mods you could ever need.....my PSE was under $500 and didn't come with any : (
Martins are also very adjustable poundage wise, usually 50-70lbs.
