My 13 degree buck....pics and story

I know for a lot of you guys that 13 degrees at daybreak is farly normal and is probably not even considered cold. But for us, our lows in December usually hang in the upper 20's/low 30's with the occasional low 20's. Seldom do we go below 20 degrees this early in the late fall/early winter.

So when Wednesday'sforecast called for 16 degrees and clear skies on the tail end of a windy and miserable prior 24 hours due toafast moving "front" (20-30 mph sustained winds with gusts up to 40), I knew I had to be out hunting. These are the days that are always productive in our area, as far as seeing lots of deer activity. This day did not disappoint. While I only had 4 deer within bow range, I saw somewhere between 30 and 40 deer (I lost count after 30) the first 1 1/2 of daylight.

Iwas set up in a shelter belt about 300 yards off of a milo field which is used as a travel route back to a heavily used bedding ground. I went in expecting to kill a doe, but when this guy presented me a perfect 27 yard broadside shot, I took it. Deer when down in sight 73 yards from POI.
