Spring deer season???

With all the talk and bickering back and forth over harvesting does vs bucks or harvesting old bucks vs young bucks or the effects of "horn porn" as some say, what do you think would happen to the number of hunters if fall season ceased to exist and all deer hunting took place from say March 1st thru april 30th when all the bucks have shed their antlers. You were just out harvesting deer at that point. Sure you would be selective in getting a bigger bodied deer, but I was just thinking about if guys would not hunt deer if there were no horns involved.

DOn't get over-critical about how unrealistic a spring season is and why it would never happen, just veiw it from a stand point of all deer being antlerless.

Ummmm... I'd hate to gut a doe at that time of year.

not only that but don't deer get parasites during the spring and summer that die off by fall?

We can hunt till late March in my county for doe's. I however try to make it a point to be done hunting by Feb. The thought of bagging a doe with a package in it just turns my stomach a little bit. Plus I only hunt with a bow to help eliminate the chance of shooting a anterless buck. But the thought of a gut job in late march and april would just really suck!

I promise you there would a whole lot less hunters in the woods if you took the antlers away. Not to mention the fact that outfitting and land leasing would be a thing of the past.

That was my belief too.

Oh hunters would still find a way to make it competitive.

Every hunter would then own a digital scale and a jawbone aging system.

The competition would just shift to other criteria.
