RE: Who takes field notes/journals??

I fillout one of these sheets (with wind direction) for each and every hunt. I like stats. I also like to remember certain things about a given day in the woods.

I like to record location, weather conditions, wind direction, and time of hunt and then I give a synopsis of what I saw and the events that played out. I also like to include some thoughts on my observations so that if I try something a little different later it reminds me why I did it.

RE: Who takes field notes/journals??

I started jotting down notes last year. I'm intrigued by moon phases and weather patternsand how they correlate with deer movement and the rut activity so I see what the experts predict and then compare mysightings to seeif I can find a pattern. I'd like to get to the point where I can somewhatpredict whenrut activity and general movement will be the highest ... not there yet for sure. If I ever get there, I'll bottle the formula and make a mint, good luck to me. :D

I recap every hunt in my team thread. 92 deer sightings on 42 bowhunts.

I don't really take much in the way of field notes. I do keep a practice journal though.
