I've not stayed true to self.

During the beginning and middle of the season I told myself that unless conditions were absolutely horrible, I would go hunting every chance I get because I will regret it in June if I didn't. Well, this morning conditons are nothorrible. It's single digits outside I think but the wind is not howling. I am typing, not hunting.

Please don't take this the wrong way becauseI'm just trying to point out the reasons behind my laziness but... Perhaps it's the fact that I've already taken 5 deer, 2 of which are at the taxi. Obvioiusly I have enough meat in the freezer to last til May. Also, the MZ season is going on right now. On top of that, the deer have been pressured for 3 whole months now so my chances of seeing them has gone down drastically.

Too many factors that weigh in on the don't go and just live vicariously through this site side of the scale. Are you there or getting there too?

The more deer you get, the easier that is to do!

Especially when it is 2 degrees outside!

I said same thing. I have one at the taxi and a doe in the freezer. It's IL gun season right now and the past two days I have not seen any deer. People have been pushing the woods and freaking out deer, they are bedding hard.
Well I woke up to 12 degrees this morning with a windchill near 0 and I stayed in. But I'm on my way out right now, just slept in a couple hours. I'll get back out about they time they start pushing again, maybe they will run something my way. Ya never know.

Anyway, I say your good.. You have had a good season and should enjoy being out hunting. If you have your meat and your not having fun then whats the point I guess..

Me, I'm waiting on things to calm down from the orange army. I have till mid Jan. still with the bow so I'll be back out.

It 1 degree out when I headed to my stand opening morning of gun season.
Get your but out and the only reason I am typing is because I am out of
vacation time and stuck at work.

If by "there" you mean "content" with your season.....yes...I'm "there". I took a friend hunting yesterday morning.....and didn't go out yesterday afternoon.....although it was PERFECT! I have doe tags....and would like to take one to make some jerky and t give to my neighbors. I didn't go yesterday because I sort of had to force myself to go. I know better than to do that.

Yesterday was the first time I've hunted since I shot my buck last Friday (11/28). I JUST told Lisa, though....I wanna go in the morning. I do. I will.;)

Nothing wrong with being content, Heu. How could it be?:) It says something about your season. Congrats.

I love going hunting but I've also had a pretty good season (3 deer, two of them with the bow) and I'm perfectly content to sleep in when its freezing cold outside haha. I have talked about maybe going to NJ once final exams are over to hunt a farm down there with my father. If I go it will be more about spending time with dad, then it will be about deer hunting. Once the season is officially over I'm usually happy to spend my free time doing other things. Well...at least until its time to go chase turkeys haha.

I woke this morning, got all my gear together to head out and looked at the wind flag on my barn and thought..."this is stupiid...they won't be moving..." I got 2 nice deer with the bow, the little lady got one with the gun..I gots one with the MZLDR and the oldest got hers...5 deer and it seems I am content.

Gonna stalk the pines later maybe, if for nothing else just for some late in-season scouting ( which is another good reason to get out...hell, takea camera....just as good IMHO)...unless some online gaming don't interest me first (Diablo L.O.D. ).....OOoooooo, look, something shiney.....

...damn.;)

I Have taken 4 this year and still have 3 doe tags in my pocket. I find myself going out in the afternoons more and not putting alot of pressure on myself. Off tomorrow and Tuesday. Will be in stand hopefully filling a tag or two.

No, I'm not "there" yet. I killed a small 9ptup north and have only gotten one doe here in Pa. I still have a buck tag to fill and I'd love to get another doe for some meat. I've hunted every day, mostly evenings, since I got back from Alberta on Dec 1st. I've seen deer on one occasion, 7 doe in a group, and that's been all I've seen, period! No shot opp. I'll keep trying until the fat lady says it's over. I don't give up easily!;):D
