New Mathews monster bow
Anyone check these out yet? 360+ fps
Our pro shops out in Washington state are saying they proly will not get them till Jan-Feb time frame. I shoot the Switchback XT and am thinking about upgrading to this one. My arrows are at 435 grams currently (due to Washington state requirments) so I'm going to drop down to 350 (IBO) since I do all my hunting out of state anyways. I'm also thinking about using a drop away rest vs a bisket. I'm hoping for better long range groups. http://mathewsinc.com/bows/monsterxlr8.asp |

RE: New Mathews monster bow
Trev pretty much covered it...but I gotta ask:
You live in WASHINGTON and hunt OUT OF STATE[&o] I hope to hunt WA someday. |
RE: New Mathews monster bow
I am a Mathews owner, a fan, and about as loyal as they come. However, the specs of this Monster bow and everything else about it does not get me excited one bit. I will probably shoot it just for the heck of it, but I can't see myself liking it it.I expect theReezen to be pretty good and can't wait to shoot it, but I doubt Ithink to highly of the Monster series.

RE: New Mathews monster bow
The Reezen 6.5 is nice...and FAST (for a single cam bow). The hand-shock is all but eliminated with String Tamer and an S-Coil stabilizer. I've shot a 60/28 and a 65/28.5......and they rock! I'm really excited that they're coming in 5# increments this year...so I can finally get a true 65# bow w/o adjustments. I'll be shooting a 65/28.5 around 290-300fps-ish with XT Hunter arrows, 100gr broadhead, and Blazers.
The Monster would be a great bow if you shot like a machine with perfect form. Aren't they coming out with a 5" and a 6" brace height in them? If so...MAYBE a person could get used to the 6"...but I'm willing to bet they'll come out with a duel cam next year with a 7" brace height that shoots 340fps or so. |

RE: New Mathews monster bow
Thanks for the fed back guys. I'm not going to be able to get the bow anyways now. My wife went ballistic on me when I told her I was thinking about getting another $900.00 bow.
I'm going to work hard on tuning and shooting this summer. I'm solid out to 40 yards. Anything further out then that (45-50yards) and I'm grouping within a pie plate. As for hunting in Washington state. I live on the west side of the state. Hunting in the thick brush has been hard for me. I've only lived here for a couple years and come from back east. I haven't been able to get used to black tails one bit. Any pointers on that would be great. Thanks again. |
RE: New Mathews monster bow
I want a bow that shoots 400 fps! That would be a guarenteed giant buck every-shot.... Yeah, not so much!
