have literally hunted every chance I got, regardless of the weather... time was winding down and other members of the club in Anson were experiencing the same thing- this week was no exception hunted hard again only had a single fawn sighting ---

This leads to yesterday morning, hunted until 12:30 with no deer sightings- reached a point of frustration at this time- after leaving the woods and grabbing a quick bite, was thinking where and how... decided to investigate a spot that no one has hunted( we have to log into number sections) this spot was also bordered by a beaver swamp and had the least amount of gun pressure but was primarily tall pines

I rode my four wheeler back there, walked up an old roadbed and discovered a fresh scrape - walked about 50 yards deeper and looked up -- there was the tree knew it right away -
Hauled ass back to the other side of the property to retrieve my climber and hauled tail back to the new location

went to the pine and scurried up 25 ft as the woods were open but this tree bordered a thicket about 50 yards behind the TREE. With renewed confidence and a positive attitude I settled in around 3;15, mainly using this for an observation sight was my intentions as I never hunted here prior

4:30 guns start going off,, only renewed my confidence that deer were moving. %pm hear rustling to my left and see a large doe making her way to the roadbed - was tickled to have laid eyes on a deer... two more does soon followed.. they hit the roadbed and started away from me ... whats ole Frank do... breaks out the grunt call - hit it 5 or 6 times and to my suprise the largest switched direction a headed my way... anticipation was starting to build only to watch her veer off and take a trail to far out. The other does were still visibile whats ole Frank do,, yep hit the grunt 5 or 6 more times they turned and walked away. Minutes past and heard rustling to my right - a basket rack 6 pointer heading right for me, no intention of shooting so didn't even reach for the bow..THEN rustling behind me... in the the thicket - see a large body and quickly forget about pee wee.. I grab my bow and turn to face the thicket - deer is headed right for me about 15 yards of traveling towards me and Isee the rack - my heart went into over drive, mind raced for shooting lanes, shaking badly - worst case of buck fever ever. As he was apporaching I was able to think clearly enough to settle and at 25 yards turned slightly qtring to me - I put my little green pin on the crease of the shoulder and squeezed the released - seemed like the arrow was in slow motion and hit the exact crease ... the deer spun and I could see adequate penetration as he was leaving. Got down asap and went to looked for blood found it quickly and 7o yards later the beast was mine

He was taken with a hoyt katera-55lbs wasp jak-hammer ( i love these heads)

he had an inside spread of 21.5 inches
weighed between 180 and 200lbs
we rough scored him at 131 last night - but his left side will cause some deductions - I believe he will fall just under P and Y but is my largest buck to date

LOL.....for you guys who don't know Frank....he's about as laid back as they come. He's also really good at describing how he felt;). I was right there with ya, man.

Awesome job, buddy. I couldn't be happier for you.....and I could hear the excitement in your voice on the phone.

p.s. - He's even nicer than I imagined. Congrats, Frank:)
