how do you stay warm
What do you do or wear to stay warm on those cold mornings.
Last year i froze. No matter how many layers i had on i was cold. Heck i could feel the wind blow right through everything.
This year i bought some insulated coveralls. They do good except the dryer shrank then alittle now the legs pull up when i am sitting. Though my new boots are uninsulated they do the job ok.
My plan for next season is some thermal underwear. Maybe some heated socks on those cold days.
So what do you do to stay warm,

RE: how do you stay warm
When cold weather arrives, I find two things that help me greatly.
#1 I take plenty of time to get to my stand.
We all know to dress in layers to help stay warm, but if you leave the house too late, you'll hurry to your stand and work up a sweat......which is bad news after about 30 minutes.
#2 My feet are always what get me. I learned a little trick this year while on stand. When my feet start getting cold, I flex my thigh and calf muscles over and over, which I think helps blood flow to my feet and toes....or maybe it just tricks me into thinking I'm warmer, either way it works!

One thing I did this year to keep my feet warm was to wear the Artic Shield Boot Covers. My feet always get cold, and these really seem to work. They allow you to wear more comfortable shoes as well. COld feet was always my downfall. As for the rest, I wear my Gray Wolf Woolens Archers Jacket and bibs and can sit all day!

I ditto the boot covers. The biggest downfall for many people is their feet. My feet can't last more than a couple of hours in below 30 degree whether and I wear the right sock combinations and have used the foot heaters. But if I wear the right boots and socks and then slip on the boot covers with a couple of heater packs in each, I can stay out from sun up to sun down. Also, the right long underwear is crucial. The good stuff lets you wear lighter outerlayers critical to moving silently and drawing back.

I could put what all of my layers consist of, but I'll put what I feel more important. Have your first layer or two very tight fitting, and the rest of the layers loose fitting. It makes warm air pockets from your body heat.

I force myself to pack in most of my clothing in order to avoid sweating....layering is very important....under armour or a similar base layer is beneficial. wool is very helpful as well.
