I have 8 European mounts, 7 of those have been done by using beetles and one was done by boiling it. im sure that burying the skull will work but it will probably take a long time, especially now that winter is coming. I would also imagine that you would have to clean the skull up alot once you dig it back up.

Bury it deep and put a rock over it..
I put mine in a Lobster trap and let the crabs, lobsters and sea lice do the job. Those critters can strip a human down to the bones in a week so they make short work of a skull.
PS.. Sure won't do you much good if you don't live on the water..

I would like to do one of these kits but I cant find much info on them. It says it is very easy,etc. but they dont show or tell you how it works.

My brother-in-law burys all of his and works like a charm. Thought he was full of crap the first time he told me about this technique...but seeing is believing! It does work well.

My buddy has beetles, so all i do is skin the skull and give the head to him, the beetles do the rest. I know you can get them online, but a warning if your going to do it in your house, they stink.

I had a friend shoot a buck one morning first light by midnight it was boiled about 90% clean,took a little time to get brain cleaned out but had it mounted by the next Wednesday,all this started on a Saturday.Good fire with correct size bucket and plenty of beer and made a evening of if,when he washed it down with pyroxide he got some on bases's so be careful with that stuff.

A few years ago I did a european mount. I put it in my back yard on the ground and covered it with a huge tin can and then put a 30lb rock on top of the can to prevent dogs from getting in. I came back three month later and it was as clean as a whistle and the color was really natural too, not bleeched like some i've seen.

I did mine myself last year. Skinned out the skull and buried it with plastic bags covering the antlers to keep them clean. Dug it up in the summer and had a little bit of tissue to remove. Then I took it and put it in a dishwashing bin with 40 volume peroxide (this can be found at any hairdresser supply store) and covered the areas that weren't submerged with paper towels soaked in the peroxide. It bleached the skull out really nice. I put it on a plaque and you can't tell the difference between it and the one I had done professionally.
