How to get a deer home

This friday I am going about an hour away to Bellevue, Mi for some hunting on a friends land. He has a really big 8 or 10 point buck he hasn't gotten a good look at it as well as a big 6 point and plenty of smaller bucks. So my question is this, if I get a deer (crossing my fingers) how do I get it home? Reason I ask is because I drive a chevy cavalier (really small car) and I dont think strapping it to the roof, trunk, or hood would be a good idea, so any suggestions on how to get it home would be great cause I have no idea.

Kill one first then worry about it:D. I think all you can do is what MdDave said. Buying a truck also will help;).

Take a 50gal cooler (It'll fit in your trunk).

Shoot a deer......quarter it up. Bring it home.

Problem solved.

Why not? When I was 16, I shot 2 deer in rifle season an 8 point and a doe. Our property is 2 hours from home. Strapped both to roof of the car and away I went. I shot a 4 point(should be an 8, he nocked out the left side antler) last Mon. Thru it in the trunk lined with a tarp, back feet and part of the head hanging out.

If you really want to save space, and time spent at home processing....go ahead and bone it out right off the carcass. Take the boned out meat home in a cooler (pretty small cooler will hold all the meat off of one deer) and take the cooler home.

I nearly spit my coffee when I read the passenger seat thing. My first deer went in the back of my hatchback. One leg stuck out and I tied the hatch shut with some twine, the ride home wasn't far. Some PETA chick saw theleg sticking outand tried running me off the road! I had to do some maneuvering to not end up in a ditch, all the time thinking if this twine doesn't hold up, that deer would end up as a big ol' speed bump for her.

When I was younger, I drove a small car and would use it to hunt. I would take a painters drip cloth. The cheap plastic you lay on the floor when you are painting. Id line my trunk with the drip cloth and put my deer in the trunk. Never had a problem. I transported three deer last year in a chevy monte carlo when gas prices were so high. It was much cheaper to take my car than my truck. Two of the three deer were Pope and Youngs. Not saying that to brag, just giving you an idea of how big of animals you can cram in a car trunk.:D

I also echo the cooler thing. Ive quartered several to put in a cooler so I could transport the deer in the back seat.

Mine usually go inside the back of my Jeep... probably close to 40 or so have taken a ride in her since I've owned it. But on a recent trip, theback of the Jeep was PACKED, and there was no room left... so we had to adapt:

Hard to tell, but that was aLOT of deer going up there... Here's a better view of them:

We then drove fromnorthern St. Louisto home, a couple hours south. Of course, we had to go through a McDonald's drive-thru before weleft St. Louis... I mean, how many times you gonna get the chance to do that? [8D]

That is truely a beautiful thing. I'm inspired!
