HOYT - Alphamax 32???
What do you guys think? I like it.
I like the frame of the Superhawk better but it is about 15fps slower on the books. Any word on these bows?? Bowtech & Matthews guys...just relax....leave it open for us HOYT guys to chat for a bit....[8D] |
RE: HOYT - Alphamax 32???
I liked the way the 32 held and balanced, much better than any short bow I have ever drawn. So much so I thought, briefly about getting one and you might already know what I think about short bows.
Then I started doing some research and found out I would have to shoot the 32 with the long draw cam(#3) on the shortest setting(shortest mod)but I could shoot the 35 at 1" off the top end of the short (#2) cam which should mean a better feeling and more efficient bow.Added to that is the fact the 35 should be a little more forgiving,it was a no brainer for me. The cam is stiff but it doesn't have that heavy peak or big drop off that I can't stand so I should have my new AM35 in a couple weeks. |
RE: HOYT - Alphamax 32???
It's a sweet shooter. May be their best hunting bow. Shot one a few weeks ago, and so far it's my front running pick for a deer thumper for 09. Nice draw, light weight, solid wall, smooth shooting and quiet. I still need to shoot the PSE's, and Elites, but I've picked it over the Reezin and the Bowtechs so far.
If you like Hoyts, you'll love it. Several guys on archerytalk have them and everyone seems to love them. |
RE: HOYT - Alphamax 32???
You finally retiring the good ole Xtec TFOX ?? :D Or just keeping her around for good measure ?

Thanks TFOX...It sounds like the 32 will be a good pick for my 27.5 inch draw.

RE: HOYT - Alphamax 32???
She isn't going anywhere.Probably will try a few spots this winter with her just so she doesn't get bored.[8D]

RE: HOYT - Alphamax 32???
That's a good bow for spots, despite the short ATA most guys use for spots. I shot a slew of 298's, anda couple300's with it on a vegas 3 spotbefore I moved up to a Protec. Now a Protec or 38 Pro will make you love dot shooting! The Xtec was light for me as a dot shooter, so I put a good heavy stabilizer on it to calm the wobble. After that, it was a nail driver.

RE: HOYT - Alphamax 32???
I have owned several protecs and a few ultras and I still hate spots[8D].My last was an 06 silver flame pro that was quite possibly the best shooting bow I have ever shot.;)

RE: HOYT - Alphamax 32???
TFOX - When you say harsher on the draw are you saying a uneasy wall at full draw? or just hard to pull...
|
RE: HOYT - Alphamax 32???
It will most likely be more aggresive, all the way around. The wall will most likely be harsher but I have not drawn all the different scenarios so I am going off previously known knowledge of cam styles.
Generally speaking, when shooting off the top end of a cam,it is just a bit more aggressive in feel and performance. I do like what they have done with splitting up the short and long draws though,it should provide a better performing bow over just having 1 cam for all draw lengths. While still allowing proshops to carry fewer bows that cover more people. |
RE: HOYT - Alphamax 32???
But,yes, mainly the difference will be felt in the wall,I answered that like a politician.

ORIGINAL: gri22ly ORIGINAL: MichiganWhitetails74 :)Gonna buy the 32 About the 32, I like the looks, but I like a heavier bow. I've been really looking into the Seven37 or AM35. A used Katera would be alright too;) |
RE: HOYT - Alphamax 32???
I just got my AM 32, Tuesday and I have to say I am very impressed. I have owned numerous Hoyts, Bowtechs, and one matthews, and I think I have found my favorite thus far.
The 32 is replacing my BT General and I don't think I will miss the General all that much. The AM has a lot smoother draw and is faster. My General may be a little quieter, but not much. I would recommend either of the AM's to anyone. I shot them both extensively and settled on the shorter ATA. |
RE: HOYT - Alphamax 32???
Any idea on price guys? I'll be looking to buy in May/June.

RE: HOYT - Alphamax 32???
I picked one up for $ 750, but I suspect you may be able to beat that price a bit. I haven't received it yet, having it set up and tuned prior to receiving it. I have to say I'm more excited about this bow than any I've purchased. I shot one while in KS this past year and it's a sweet shooter and solid.

RE: HOYT - Alphamax 32???
Would someone mind posting a pic of a camo'd 32 please? For some reason the Hoyt bow pics wont load on their webpage. Im looking for a new bow after this winter and am interested in finding out what this is all about. I was set on going with Mathews...but from what I've read this AlphaMax might beat out the new Mathews?
