Archery world record typical, - "Mel Johnson Buck" -came from about 10 miles from where I hunt in IL. Doesn't get any "bigger" than that! The guy that hunts the neighboring farm to the north killed a 177" on Oct 14 this season. There was rumored to be a 200" + roaming around, but he has eluded me up to this point. Always seems to be a rumor ofone superfreak, but seldom does it materialize in a hero shot.

The biggest buck that I know of that was taken close to my place was a Non Typical shot In 1982. It was the new Pope and Young Minnesota State Record Non Typical at the time.
Scored- 215 6/8.
County- Meeker County. It was shot about 1/8th of a mile behind my house and It Is also across the road from the land my dad now owns that I hunt on. The guy who shot It Is a good friend of the family's and a good hunting buddy of my dad's. My dad was also hunting this buck but never seen It, all he had seen was the sign it was leaving, he knew It was big! My dad was the one who found it that night when they went out to track It, he couldn't believe the size of the buck!!
