What happened to the days where any deer taken with a bow was an accomplishment worth bragging to your buddies about back at camp?
I say a nicesized animal at 20 years still not an accomplishment..Its hunting its not an accomplishment. Its an act that people do everyday. I dont see how its accomplishment.

An old man once told me, "Boy, I remember the days when a hunter wasnt judged by how big hisdeer are, but how many hes got on the pole."[8D]
Maybe those good old days werent so bad after all.

Because not all animals you shoot with a bow is an accomplishment.Say someone shoots a fawn with bow at 5 yards.. (completely hypothetical) now your gonna be proud of that, I dont think so.

I can see both sides here. On one hand some guys just go out to hunt and shoot deer and don;t really care about size, but when they come here to share & post em up, its got to be intimidating when you see the size of some of the bucks guys shoot year in and out.
On the other hand it is easy to get caught up in the have to shoot something big craze, but for many guys, that's just not a realistic goal.
Personally as long as someone doesn;t come on here with " I had to shoot this one or someone else would have" then I don't care how they intro thier post. I agree that no matter what you shoot be proud. If its a situation or animal you aren't proud of, then jus tdon't post it. That is ok too.

Washington, I made a comment similar to your #3 (time was running out) in a post about my Minn. - Wis. trip. Go back and read it, or maybe you don't want to. I'm not sure how I could have worded it any different. One of my personal goals on that hunt wasto take a trophy buck. I did want to come home with a deer. I hunted for 11 days and passed up 3 bucks besides the one I shot. I passed up a bigger one then the one I shot. (oops, maybe it was wrong to say that, that could be misconstrued as bragging or arrogant) A point was reached in the hunt where I decided to take a buck smaller then my goal. In that same post I posted many wild life and scenic photos. I will assure you that I don't hunt to impress you or anyone else. I come to this site to share with otherswho also enjoy my passion.
sorry if I offended you for telling it like it is.

Don't get me wrong, Magic. That didn't offend me at all.
The ones that irritate me are the ones who shoot something for the simple fact of shooting it and then are less than proud of it.
You were proud of your deer and posted about it. I'm glad for you, and congratulations on taking a good buck.

Who gives a crap what you post about bawana?
Who gives a crap what you post about bawana?
The personal part of hunting is lost when people post on a public forum what they personally shot, they are looking for approval or atta boys. No more no less.
Be happy with your hunting and keep most of it to yourself.
What is lost here Bruce is Bawana's attempt to be inflammatory for no reason and it is getting old.
