Speed or Comfort??
 

I'm torn.

I dont know what to get my new Hoyt in as far as poundage. 50-60lb or 60-70lb... I think if I get a 50-60 then When im in the woods it will be like smooth as pie, but then again I cant even remember drawing on the deer I shot this year, So that makes me wonder, is my bow set right for me? I dont even know how many pounds it is but its a 60-70 for sure. I think I would like the 50-60 set at max poundage more than a 60-70 set at max poundage, but then again the speed will be come a factor....

Anyone shed some light on me that would be greatly appericiated.

BOWTECH there is no need to sacrafice speed nor comfort Bowtech has it all its just a matter of what bow you chose..HAVE At'm

But on a more serious note, i would have to go with the 50-60 # model i would like to draw in strange positions to see what is best but in like cold weather and sorts it would be best to have a lighter poundage bow..it up to you but IMO its best to have a bow you can draw in any sercumstance.

Sorry BH818 I'm a Hoyt guy through and through... Not to say if I could afford/shot one and liked one I wouldnt jump ship but for now I'm a Hoyt guy.

My next bow will be 60# too. Speed isnt a factor unless you have a really short DL...otherwise, its kind of a moot point...whats 10 fps when you are already right around 300 anyway? lol

Alphamax didn't quite do it for me, I loved the bow though. Im hoping they tweak it a little bit for 2010 and satisfy the miniscule things I disliked, and I'll get one in 60# and call it quits for a long time. 60# is easier to draw, easier on shoulders for long run, will be just as fast as my current 70# setup with these higher IBO ratings....and will still crank out more than needed for most animals I plan on hunting. I love my arrow setup, Im hoping when I upgrade bows I can downsize to 60#, shed some weight off bow, stay just as smooth on draw, have harder backwall, and still maintain the current speeds I have right now out of a 70# 07 Vectrix.....Alphamax nearly covers all of these.

I'd opt for 60# personally, but it is your decision after all.

Why not go with the 60-70lb limbs and back them out to the low 60's? That would give you room to work upward since you didn't mention shooting in the lower range of the 50-60lb limbs.

Bow just didn't feel right to me. Hard to explain....I thought the draw (while smooth) was kind of harsh for its IBO of 321....like, it hit peak weight earlier in the cycle and held it longer, but for nothing because speed didn't increase really. I LOVED the lighter weight of it, and the limb/riser configuration was sweet as well. Everything about it was amazing but the draw..I will admit that I tested it out after freezin in the deer stand all afternoon and was still pretty stiff from it...I will try and shoot it thoroughly soon for another look at it...Either way a new bow isn't in the budget for me right now...I have other priorities ranking much higher than a replacement bow right now.

It drew to harsh for my likings, I liked pretty much everything else about it though....besides the $799 price tag.[:'(] I paid 6something for my Hoyt just two years ago.

If you haven't shot it yet, dont be discouraged....most people who have shot it love it. Im hoping I have similar sentiments before too long.

For 2010, Im hoping they add a few fps while making the draw smoother...everything else can be the same for all I care, I loved everything else about it.

Well In the lower ranges of the higher poundages so im told you dont get such a great perfomrance as if you had a 50-60 maxed you'd see the peak of its performance not half of what its capable of.
