Always seems to be that way. On opening day of the 2006 season, my dad told me took sit in a stand that was only about 20 yards from a stand that had been built by a person that used to hunt there. Well, I said no, I'm taking the Wooden Stand as we called it because it was made of wood and had a chair to sit on after you climbed it. Well, I see 2 does pop out of the woods down by where he's sittin. He takes one and then I hear crashing through the woods out in front of me. Well, here came a group of does, but they had one buck with them. He was at least in the 140's. He walked right in front of that stand about 5 yards, and he never came out in front of me even though I was only like 20 yards away from that stand. After I told him what happened, he said I told you so. LOL. Still regret that day lol.
