homemade stands
 

hey guys i know people have probably asked the same question well.....lots
me and my buddy found a piece of property to hunt next year and we're kinda tight on money but his uncle has a lumber yard that we have access to. i was wondering if you guys have any plans for building treestands or sites that have them, we want to make both ladder stands and possibly some hang-ons.
any help will be much appreciated

Making wooden stands isn't that difficult if you have to tools. Just our main type of stand around here. (Don't care if people say their safe or not, we never had trouble.) If you're using it for bowhunting which I guess you are by where you posted this, then you shouldn't put a railing on it. I'm sure you could find dimensions on how to make one somewere on the internet.

ya we've got the tools but i was looking for some kind of outline/plan lol

we've hunted out of homemade stands for 2 years now and never had a problem

Where I live they've been hunted out of since wood was invented...I'll look for a plan/outline for you...

Use heavier rough cut OAK since you have access....they will last a LONG time if you do.

my grand father an i built one, one time... used metal sign post an 2*4's for the ladder... made a 3*3 platform bolted the ladder to the platform walked it up the tree then lag bolted the platform to the tree with 2 2*4 for braces also.. it hasnt went any where in 7 years...
