I just read that it takes approx. 4 oz. of blood loss for a deer to become unconsious(idk how to spell that word). That looks like ALOT of blood on the ground, but it sounds promising. Good luck brother.

This is my first chance to post an update since yesterday.

I went out yesterday afternoon from 3-5:15. I recruited the help of my brother in law during that time and we began to make zig zags up and down a hillside where I figured the deer may of wanted to bed down. We zig zagged all the way through that thick stuff and found nothing. We then began to walk south of the last sign wondering if the deer had backtracked. Nothing.

Earlier in the day I had recieved a call from John(jmbuckhunter), and he pointed me in the right direction to get some tracking dogs on the trail. However, in the end things with them didn't quite work out as well as I planned. Let me break from the story and give a big thanks to John. I have never met him before, just had a few PM's back and forth, and for him to take the time to reach out a lending hand to help me, a complete stranger, really shows the type of character this man has. Again thank you.

Anyways back to the trail. I once again recruited some more help from a good friend of mine and a cousin for that night. I have some big coon hunting style lights laying around the house, so we put them to use and began circling the last blood. Nothing. We then started hitting that hillside back up and still no result. My light then began to die so we headed back to my stand. From here I had my friend act as the deer approaching the field to try to get a better view of what may of happened. Upon my memory of the shot, we started to pour over some deer anatomy charts. From the angle of my arrow to the deer, I was around 18 feet in the air and he was approx. 12 yards away(how I blow a shot like that is beyond me). We have pretty well figured that the deer must of been a one lung hit.

I was back out there at 8 this morning. From here I headed north and east. I checked several little hollows, thickets, and ridges and no sign. I then began to zig zag search all over a hillside and then again across a tall grass field. By the time it got dark I was physically and mentally beat.

I have called the neighboring landowner whoms land I have been tracking on and told him I still have not found the deer. He said that if any of the shotgun hunters on him find it then he will give me a call. I have about an hour of daylight tomorrow afternoon to look and then I will have to wait until next Monday when shotgun season is over.

I will try to get some pics up of where this deer has ran and where I have searched, also a diagram of where I am certain my arrow has hit.
