Frustrating weekend

Yesterday afternoon i had a nice buck come in. He would have been a 10, but he had broken off half of his right main beam, so he was only a 8. He gave me a perfect broadside shot at 15 yards, and i just shot straight over his back. My dad said its cuz i'm supposed to aim low when shooting from an elevated sand (any thoughts on this). to add insult to injury, a herd of cows came in and decided to chew on the arrow that i had missed with like a toothpick. Thankfully though, My little sister took her first buck (with Rifle)...Oh well... there's always next weekend.

You aim right where your supposed to. Right behind the shoulder. If you didn't do that, that's why you missed. If you did aim there, then you better shoot your bow cuause your sights are probably off then.

Don't worry about it, I did the same thing to a doe at 8 yards yesterday. There was no wind and I drew when she was walking at 10 yards. She had been on alert for 10 minutes so I readied my pin immediately and released the arrow. I missed right over her back. I hadn't missed like that in years. I shot my bow today and it was hitting great all the way out to 30 yards. Sometimes it is user error and not the bow. We all lose sometimes, just get back at it and go for it!

In your Dad's defense, he is right in a manner of speaking. If you just drop your arms down to the animal and not bend at the waist, you will shoot high. This is because your line sight changes. If you bend at the waist, this keeps your arms in correct form and your line of sight stays the same. Try it once and it will prove that I am right. Try shooting with just dropping arms and then bending at the waist. It will show you by where the arrows hits.

Unless your sights are off?

Just because I know this, doesn't mean that I never missed a deer real close. I actually hate shots under 10 yards. I'll take them though.

Good luck, don't let it get to you. Everyone has missed once or twice. If they say they haven't their lying to you.

I shot thisyearling 2 weeks ago at 8 yrds, my closest shot yet. I aimed right where I wanted to hit her. No deviation in my shot at all. Igrazed her heart with my pass through. She went 35yrds, layed down and died.
