How many times per season?
 

One of GregH's posts got me to wondering.......

How many times each season do you get to your spot.....get to your stand.....sit down and feel that there is NO WAY it could be "better" (in regards to the confidence you have in your particular set THAT day/time)?

For me....65 sits....and it's probably happened +/- 8 times, this year.

Wouldn't you like to get to the point where you could have this type confidence EVERY SIT? I felt this way just yesterday....but it still wasn't the "perfect" feeling I sometimes get.

Does this hit home with anyone else?

I go out at least 25 times a year. I hunt in a high pressure hunting area so its hard sometimes to get to my spot. But I always get a deer. weather is be walking back to my truck or stalking a herd of does on there way from a food plot or creek. And I always think I love VENISON especially some backstraps.

Jeff, I've had that feeling a lot of times this season.The problem was, the more I had that feeling, the more times I didn't see any deer!This pic was taken on Oct 18th!! I was wondering how many other does gave birth late?Food for thought.

It felt like that this morning though it was my first sit in this small woods this season. To my chagrin I was a tad late this morning and a nice buck chasing a doe came by as I was hooking up.

I actually had this feeling several times this season in another stand.

I would say 2-3 times year out of 30 hunts or so. Small percentage of the time.

It happened once in 12 sits for me. October 5th I just thought to myself this is perfect. As soon as that thought left there was the buck I shot. After that I sat 10 more times and never had it again.

Out of the 15 or so sits I've had this year I'd say 4 of them times I really felt It. Out of them 4 sits that I was all pumped up on I saw one mature buck (mid 120's). I haven't felt It a whole lot this year.

I felt really over confident one 2 times this year my 1st time in the new woods and when Ben,Matt,Rob and I hunted the 1st night on Friday I knew we would be into the deer they could not avoid us and by god they did'nt!;)

I almost never have that feeling. I have to pep talk myself into most sits. At best when I do feel confident, its just knowing I am in a good spot, but I almost never feel I am in the perfet spot.

On the flip side, the day I killed that buck in Ohio, I've never had more confidence in a tree in my life. To this day, that is the best set up I've ever hunted out of.
