Well, pretty much every deer in PA has learned to look up in the trees. Over a million hunters hitting the woods each year will do that. I wear ASAT and it works for me. The only other pattern I would trust is Predator. I can honestly say that a good many of the deer I have seen in stand would have busted me and took off if I was wearing your typical Realtree Hardwoods or Mossy Oak patterns. Its not that they don't see me, its just that they don't have any idea what I am and don't view me as a threat. They will notice me in stand, but after looking my way for a few seconds they just go about their business. My point was proven this season when I had a group of 7 doe surrounding my stand (all within 15 yards), plus a spike which was beaded down and facing my direction. I was only in a 12 foot ladder stand and this was in the beginning of Nov. with no leaves on the trees for cover. I am pretty much confident that any of the big name patterns and I would have been picked off.

Not all deer, I guess it depends alot on the deer and the treestand height mixed with the background and just the deer itself. Early in the season it is much easier to get away with movement and different camo patterns than it is in late October or early November. 1.5 year old bucks are pretty dumb and don't look up much, the doe on the other hand always seem to have a nack for picking up on something being different. When the doe get within 15 yards and your only 12-14 feet off the ground the doe pick up on it and start scanning around everywhere (including the trees), and thats typically when they notice that something isn't right.

Predator Fall Grey. Like American Express, "Don't go to the woods without it."
I made the mistake of wearing some camo this season that got me pegged right off when the deer looked up. Next encounter was adeer that came out of the thicket facing me and continued to face me for at least 10 minutes (I was wearing Fall Grey). This deer could easily see me (or my outline). Never gave one indication of alarm. I love it. I have never had a deer look at me andgo on alertyet while wearing the Fall Grey. LT |

RE: If the deer in your woods have learnt to look up in trees.
The deer here in PA are VERY educated due to our large number of hunters, and very often look up in the trees when they feel somethings not right. We dont have the dumb deer like the guys in the midwest. LOL[8D].
But all that said I wear Enigma Camo exculisvely. |
RE: If the deer in your woods have learnt to look up in trees.
watever is cheapest im mean seriously guys deer cant see well enough to tell wether ur wearing realtree AP or mossyoak breakup
|
RE: If the deer in your woods have learnt to look up in trees.
To be honest Gri22ly I don't get picked out hardly ever up In a tree. I move when I know It's safe. When I get caught It's my own damn fault. I wear all sorts of stuff....but think my Ult. Camo and the enigma are solid patterns. |
RE: If the deer in your woods have learnt to look up in trees.
Most definetly Predator Fall Grey!!!! I had a10 pt on pressured public land, 10yrds from me. He raised his head to scent check, and Bang ! he is stareing right at me...I froze, he bobbed his head a fewtimesand walked on unspooked and didnt seem bothered. Just could'nt get a shot, as he walked straight away from me. I believe with this pattern looking into the sky, you just blend into the the baretree tops
