Post season archery?

Now that the season is just about over I was wondering how ya'll keep up on your shooting practices throughout the winter? Some states offer a 2ndarchery season so I am sure some of you guys will be out there. I am from PA and 2nd archery comes in after the new year. I still have a doe tag so if i don't get one in rifle I may be out there again.

I have to be honest Iusually slack off on my shooting after the season but thisyear I am going to try to join some sort of indoor league so I can keep shooting throughout. Some of the local shops offer indoor screen shoots or indoor 3d. Lets hear some of your guys plans...

I only slack off in my hunting once the season is over.

I hunt the shotgun season and then late archery. I will also start getting ready for spring turkey. In the meantime, they usually have some "online" leagues here to keep you up to speed. They did a nice mix over the last off season to keep us shooting. It works on the honor system and you just shoot and then post your scores.

I probably won't shoot my compound at all. But I'll probably join indoor 3D for trad shooting.

I whine because our season doesn't start until 10/13 but we have it all to ourselves until shotgun on the Monday after Thanksgiving.

I have another buck tag to fill and two for the ladies and the next couple of weeks will be very prime. I'm not sure what happened to the rut but I'm expecting it to be along sometime.

Then there is always a couple of weeks of slug season and a couple of weeks of ML.

I just have to keep getting out of bed in the AM!! This hunting can be hard work and requires continued motivation.

As soon as the archery season is over, indoor 3-d leagues start up. Then a month or so after that, outdoor 3-d shoots. I shoot way more in the off-season than I would ever dream of during the season.

Season just about over? The rut is just kicking into gear in most places so it's just gettin' good! The archery season lasts until Jan 10th in Ia., and I can still forgo the gun season and try for another bruiser buck with the bow using a late season muzzleloader tag. But I'll probably go ahead and slug hunt as we see so many deer then and it sure is alot of fun, but it only lasts 5 days first season. Either way I have almost two more months of bowhunting.

Little over a month left in my season.

I went at 3D HARD, last year....and learned it isn't for me. I will probably put my compound in the case on 12/17 and not get it back out until March (to get ready for turkey season). I'll cherish the break.

Longbow won't go into hiding, though. I may shoot a little 3D (fun rounds) with it.

What gives?? I thought you were doing fairly well with the shoots(winning a few?), and thought you enjoyed them??

well it depends Gun starts tomorrow. If i do not get a deer with it i will be back out there. If i do i might quit for the season. Bow stays open till jan 6th except dec 1st to 6th i think for some reason.
As for post season shooting. I plan to get a glendale full rut and shoot twice a week i like shooting. But my dad is thinking of getting into hunting. If he does i will sell him my bow and buy me a new one. Which will happen around april or may. If he wants to get into it I will hold off shooting till i get the new bow.

I won a few shoots, last year (4-5?) and finished in the top 3 several times. I just found out I didn't want to spend that much time (the amount it takes to be competitive) away from my family.

I may not shoot a single 3D this year....and I sold my target bow at the end of turkey season.

I hear ya there. I used to shoottournaments all the time, but it required a ton of time to really stay competitive. I only go to a few for fun now that my kids are old enough to go along and shoot.

I shoot dang near every day.. if not at least three times a week....

you are either a bow hunter... or you are not.... heck I don't hunt with a gun unless I'm shooting doves or waterfowl.

To each his own...
