I have my own cat, now.

And yes....Romeo's teeth need some attention. He'll get it before I take out one of those to a deer stand!

(good luck, pal;))

I really thought I could do it, Not pick up the Rifle, And It wont be used the entire season. But when your seeing deer at 200yrds in the middle of an open field Its hard not too... I must say I do enjoy it,not as much as having a deer in bow range but I still getmy excitement.

And Im maturing as a hunter in general, I think/hope. 2 years ago, I would'vs shot anything I could get into my rifles cross hairs. And now Im Mature buck hunting with it, and passing deer with my bow. I really want one with my bow, But Im going to use what I feel like on whatever day I feel like it for the next couple of weeks, Ive already had the best bowseason ever with no buck down. Im just gonna have fun being out there.

Don't look down on me guys[&o]

No shame in it at all, I still love to gun hunt and it gets my blood boiling just as well. Mine may come out this weekend to paly some, and possibly next Thursday as well, but I am bound a determined to get a buck within bow rage that makes me happy and succesfully harvest him. ;)

Don't be crazy, Aaron. Have fun with whatever you use as a weapon.

You've taken 3 whitetails with your bow this year.....and you're learning at a rapid pace. You've become a really good hunter.

Go and have fun.;)

I like bow hunting better, but I never miss out on gun season. I got my buck this year with my bow, and the biggest one I have ever shot, gun or bow. I am hoping gun season will be just a productive. I am giving up sitting in my own stand this year so I can sit with my wife and try and get her something. She has been hunting for about 5 years now and has yet to get a deer. She only hunts gun season. She doesn't have allot of time to hunt this year with work and college, so I will help her out this year. I have always put her in a good stand but she hasn't been able to get a deer. She missed one a couple years ago and another because her glove got caught behind the trigger and gunwouldn't shoot. GL to all that will be out there this gun season and please be safe and know your target and beyond

Take both to the stand! :D

If he comes out close = bow

If he comes out at 200 yds = rifle

Good luck and have fun.

Aaron I would have got my left pinky to have had a gun last night. I had a 130" 8 pointer 46 yards behind me making a licking branch out of every tree he could find. All I could do was watch, come Saturday I will be carrying the smoke pole. The guy that hunts the adjoining land has killed two bucks this year that both will go over 140 (147 and 144 respectively).

I love gun season ALMOSt as much as bow .... and since I have had the worst bow season so far, I am looking forward to tomorrow

I'm headed out tomorrow as well with the cat floss for the opener in NY.

It's funny, because in 18 years of hunting with a gun and bow........all of the biggest bucks I've seen and taken have been with a bow. As a matter of fact, I've only seen 2 mature deer in the last 10 years while rifle hunting, and average that per year during bow season. It's still a lot of fun though, and in the areas I hunt I think it's actually harder to put a good buck down due to factors that we cannot control as hunters. I'll never look down on anyone for it, that's for sure. If I lived in a different part of the country I may not find the enjoyment in it, but for now it's something I really enjoy.

Have a blast, and shoot straight!

Firearm season is like a holiday here. I look more forward to it than the bow opener. Good luck to ya.

I certainly am not going to wait until Dec 1 to get back in the woods. I have had a blast with the bow, muzzleloader, and now tomorrow I can bust out the scatter gun. My leased land borders two hunt clubs that will be letting 30 or so hounds into the woods every morning and afternoon. My land is gonna be a haven for the deer to retreat to.

I have adjusted a few stands to ambush any monsters that decide to cross the creek. This part of the season is gonna be a smorgasborg of hunting tactics.

I still have 2 turkey tags to fill, and my bear tag. If I see him again (2 sightings) he will be covering part of my wall as well!

You can still use your bow cant you? I can in my county as long as I follow the Firearms regs.

The way I read the regs I can only use archery tackle during early season (October 4-Nov 14) and late archery season (Dec 1-Jan 3). The same with early muzzleloader (Nov 1-14) and late muzzleloader (Dec 13-Jan3). Shotgun only inbetween.

Besides...I hate the shot opportunity on a deer running 20 mph at 20 yrds. Thats all the deer will be doing with hounds on the ground.

If I am mistaken..let me know.

You are mistaking. You can still hunt with a bow during the firearms season. And in Hanover, you can also still hunt with a muzzleloader during firearms season.

But as you put it... you'd be hard pressed to kill one running from a pack of walkers full tilt at 30 yards through a cutover with a bow... I like the chances better with 00 buck.

[*]Hunters are allowed to use archery tackle or muzzleloading firearms to deer hunt during the firearms deer season with the following conditions:
[ul][*]all hunters are required to comply with the either-sex deer hunting days for the firearms deer season.[*]use of muzzleloading firearms is allowed only if not otherwise restricted.[*]muzzleloader deer hunters must wear blaze orange during the firearms deer season.[*]archery deer hunters must wear blaze orange during the firearms deer season except when hunting in areas where the discharge of firearms is prohibited. Thanks guys. I was planning on bowhunting a particular island near a huge food plot later in the year, and even using my muzzleloader during post rut, but now my opportunities are that much enjoyable!

I should have decyphered the regs a little further...thanks again.

Andy...come on over, there are plenty whitetails left. The more the merrier with hounds running them straight for us. Besides...Hanover has a full month of "anything goes" in the closing of the season.

Im heading to Gander to get another choke for the scatter gun and purchasing a few more tags if I can.
