Vanes - Regular or New Short Ones?
Hello, I'm looking at buying some newarrows. I shoot a Matthews MQ1, 29 inch arrows, Magnus 2 blade broadhead, Most shots 25 yards and closer. I've always used regular length vanes. Which vanes would be better - regular or the new short ones?

I would think with that head you want as much stabilization as possible, if you're already tuned and shooting them well, stick with whats worked.

RE: Vanes - Regular or New Short Ones?
Here is my experience with regular vs short (blazer vanes). This year when my 2nd oldest son was capable of pulling the same poundage and grew into the same draw length as me we switched over to whisker biscuits. I did this so he would have a more stable drawing arrow platform.
I researched and decided to go with blazer vanes. The immediate result were tighter groups for my son out to 30 yards ( a young archer ) and tighter groups for me at 35-40 yards. Continually fletching arrows is no longer a problem due to the blazers holding up much better through the whisker biscuit. I did change arrows and went with a Beman carbon ICS hunter arrow. To sum up this is what I believe you need to consider. 1. Arrow rest (what type). 2. Arrows ( are you willing to spend the money to match up new arrows to your setup? Our reason for changing was for better arrow performance and accuracy for my son. I have no complaints with the short (blazer) vanes. With our current bow setups the blazers out perform normal length vanes. Question: If you are shooting well with your current setup why would you change? Our reason for changing was due to changing arrow rest and I simply got tired of fletching arrows all the time)) Dave |

What do you shoot drop away or whisker bisket??
Question- On a drop away rest would you go with blazers or regular length. |

I use an old, I believe NAP made it, rest. It was for finger shooters, it has a sideways tension, a felt covered square shaped U. I was thinking of replacing it also.
