RE: silentassasin scores 132 7/8 in buck!
Thanks everyone! The story is kind of anit-climatic. I went up turkey hunting to NE Indiana two springs ago and picked out spot near a bedding area that was gonna most likely be a "1 and done deal".It's a small woodlot and it wasn't going to take much pressure to completely change the pattern. I slipped in about an hour and half before daylight because I expected the deer to be in the fields feeding and then start to trickle back through on the way to their beds. It was above average temps on the first day, Nov. 5, with lows in the 40's and highs in the 60's but that also provided me with the south wind that I needed. I got setup and had deer after deer walking under me in the dark and it couldn't get light fast enough. Finally, as the sun started coming up I heard a grunt and as I looked up I could see a deer walking too me and could barely make out horns. Luckily, it got within 25 yards and fed for about 5 mintues. In that 5 minutesit got lightenough to tell he was a shooter and to actually be able to shoot. I drew back and settled the pin and released. I actually shot him for 20 but he was more like 26 so I shot a little lower than where I aimed but I dead centered his heart. At 6 minutes after legal shooting light my Indiana buck hunt was over! What followed was one of the best mornings I ever had in the woods. I saw at least 40 different deer and that's being conservative assuming that I saw some of the same deer twice. I had 11 different bucks come in bumping or chasing does including a couple of 115-120 deer and one 8 pt that probably went mid 140's that had 10" brows, neeldess to say as happy as I was I couldn't help but wish I had waited. However, I know the odds on killing a good deer on a 5 day hunt are slim so I didn't regret my decision. I had bucks chasing, scraping, and grunting and does bedded around me and never went a single minute without a deer in sight. An awesome morning in the woods! Finally, about 8:30 the farmer came into the field and started spraying and when the deer from the field spooked the deer in the woodlot cleared out with them and I was able to get down and see my deer which I was pleasantly surprised was actually a little bigger than I thought he was. Now on to the camera[:'(]We got the buck out of the truck and posed him at my buddies shop with the standing cornfield in the background. Took pictures of me and the deer with and without my buddies and took pictures of the heart with the broadhead hole through it etc. etc. Well then my buddy caped it out and cut the horns off that evening which is what you have to do to be able to bring them back to Arkansas due to the CWD ban. A couple of days after that I am viewing the pics on my camera and they aren't viewing correctly so I try to go in and change the settings[&:]Well somehow I managed to delete all of the pics[:@]I think I actually reformatted the card but don't know for sure because I was trying to exit out of the settings. Luckily, we had taken a few cell phone pics to text back to my buddies at home. I didn't have a clue how to get them off so I assumed I wouldn't be able to enter him but buckrogers came through and I texted him the pics and got them on the computer and posted them for me.
