RE: Staying warm on stand?
1. UA Cold Gear 4.0 Underware (tops, and bottoms)
2. UA Cold Gear Capture 3. UA Cold Gear Hoody I'm sold on the UA stuff, I've yet to find something better. I'm a huge freeze baby. The base is most important. Cover your ears/head, and keep your feet warm also. I'm also a fan of a Muff with a few hand warmers, as I don't like wearing gloves (unless very thin) |
RE: Staying warm on stand?
Keep your feet head and neck warm and you should be ok with what you're wearing

RE: Staying warm on stand?
I forgot to mention i wore my white knuckle fleece beanie which kept my head toasty with my hood to my sweatshirt up...my head was fine, but my feet did get cold.

RE: Staying warm on stand?
I told my wife how excited I was because this weekend I managed to stay warmwithout shaking all weekend - in the mid 30's.
My hike is about a mile in so I don't even dress up until I'm under my tree. All my clothes are tied onto thepack. On the hike out I'm wearing sweat pants, a long sleeved shirt, and a warm cap. I'm a little cold at first, especially if it's windy, but anything to keep from sweating. Under the tree I take off the socks (theyare damp just from sweating)and replace with 2 pair of dry warm wool socks, replace the t-shirt with about 5 layers.Head gear is a fullknitted head cover and then a fleece cover on top of that. I hope the same works forthe 20's because I don't think I could wear much more. |
RE: Staying warm on stand?
I don't usually wear too much
Nike cold gear undershirt maybe tights or long underwear poly propylene tops and bottoms camo on top of that if it is real cold i will put on a pair of jeans and a camo sweat shirt also |
RE: Staying warm on stand?
here is what i use.
Top: RemTech 2.0 Rocky fleece thermal and long sleeve shirt Bottom: RemTech 2.0 Rocky thermal heavy fabric pants Head: full compression head cover feet: Ducks unlimited cold wear system hands: these are always the hard ones. hand warmers hand warmers hand warmers gloves. remember if your feet cant breath then they will get colder faster. alot of layers isn't always the best. |
RE: Staying warm on stand?
When its cold and windyno matter what underlayers you wear, make sure the top is windproof and you'll be 10x warmer than without a windproof layer.

ORIGINAL: IAhuntr When its cold and windyno matter what underlayers you wear, make sure the top is windproof and you'll be 10x warmer than without a windproof layer. Today I did another all day sit. Conditions were close to yesterday's as in my previous post. 15mph wind, high in the mid 30's, and I had 5 layers on yesterday but was ffffreezing. Today I just added a windbreaker right underneath the outermost layer(windbreaker pants also)and voila, night and day difference! |
