3 amazing hours this morning
This morning was the most exciting 3 hours I have spent in the woods. Just as it was begining to get light, I hear some grunting out in the power lines. It is all tall reeds and scrub oaks. Soon there is some rattling, and staring into the grayish opening I can see 2 decent bucks locking it up.
As they continue, a smaller buck comes from the woods into the opening to ivestigate, but he happens to get close to a GIANT of a buck I had not seen who was bedded with a hot doe just inside the tall reeds. This big guy is the massive heavy horned 6 pointer I let walk at 12 yards Tuesday evening just about dark. Well I tell you, He ran the little buck off... then he went after the 2 who were sparring.... then he went right back to the doe and layed down with her.
For the next 3 hours I saw 7 different bucks (some decent 7 & 8's) come and test this big guy out. He ran them all off.... what a beast!
One very large racked 4 pointer was very persistant and tried him over and over. At about 9:15 the doe finally stood, he mounted her... she kicked... he mounted again and 2 other bucks moved in real close and he got off her and ran them off again.... this was amazing to watch!
Finally he chased her away from me into the woods across the power lines and I saw him mount her again.
I tell you, if I have the chance at him again, I will not let himwalk this time. Now that I watched him for 3 hours and really saw how large his body is and what a great wide rack he has.... I am surely looking for him.

RE: 3 amazing hours this morning
Sounds like things are picking up. I have not been out hunting during the week at, looking foward to tomorrow. Is it still hot there? Sure is here in NY. Looking forward to the cold front tomorrow though.
