November 6th

Tomorrow Is November 6th and It Is that day that seems to be the best day for me to be In the woods hunting mature bucks. I've never shot a mature buck on that day but I usually see more bucks on this day then any other. I've seen a pile of chasing through out the years on the 6th. I've seen as many as 10 bucks In one day on the 6th. This day has also been cruel to me. I can think of 9 different bucks (All ranging from 130" to 150" bucks) In the last 14 years that have eluded me at about 25 yards on that day (Nov 6th). I'm a recurve shooter and that's a tad out of range on most occasions (just barely). Tomorrow I'm planning an all day sit If the weather and the wind direction hold out. We have a cold front coming Into Minnesota and rain Is In the forecast and It really should get these bucks moving a little more during day light hours and hopefully mid day being It's been unseasonably warm as of late. If It does rain I hope It don't amount to much of a rain. A drizzle type rain without the down pours and medium type of raining (not heavy and not light) I'll stay out hunting, anything heavier then that I'm going to be pissed and on my way home!

If I remember right someone else on this board likes the 6th of November.;)

Good luck to all!!

Shoot straight!!

Shultzy, do like I do and just enjoy the day in the woods. If I go in the woods and stress out I never see anything but squirrels. I always have a better time hunting when Im not thinking of even getting a shot off. Its wierd, but most of my kills come when Im not expecting it...just enjoying the time I have in the woods.

I have faith in ya Shultzy...that bruiser is gonna walk by at 10 yrds and you will teach him not to do that anymore!

Good luck Steve!

I was just talking about this with my son TODAY. Nov 5th is "my day" that I have had the most luck on over all the years....just as you, seeing ALOT of activity, sometimes I get one, most times not. It also happens to be my sons birthday :DHe turned 11 today...

We decided today that from now on, he will get his birthday off school...and we'll go hunting together that day! Then of course my daughter chimes in and says ....hey, what about me? LOL

Of course I didn't get to go today...but being 70 degrees, I'm doubting I missed much. Hopefully next week with be "the week".

shultzy - you are wrong 11/6 sucks. in 2004 the gun opener was on 11/6 and someone was in 'my' spot on public land (he ended up shooting a buck). then, i went to my inlaws and locked my keys and gun in my car. suuuuucked!

there's a real quick and easy fix to your problems on 11/6. go to your local archery shop and pick up a 320+ fps 11/6 buck killing machine! [:-]

Good luck Schultzy. I'm pulling for you.

I've told you this before.....you dedicated recurve/longbow guys have my utmost respect. If my quest for filling the freezer was dependent upon what I could shoot with a recurve....well it would be a long long winter around my house.

Thanks Mike!

LMAO!! I guess I wouldn't like the 6th of November either. As for getting a compound, nah! Not yet anyway. When I can't pull my traditional bows back decent anymore then I'll get one again.;)

The Drury's claim they have killed more bucks the 8th through the 12th so.....
That's fits your time perfect!! Go get him Rob, good luck as well. Thanks!

My last good day of bowhunting will be this Friday.
If I'm still hunting that will unfortunately be my best day In the woods also before the deer get all crazy spooky! Gun season has been good to me though. I usually see more deer then because all the yahoo's are driving deer all day Instead of sitting. I hate hearing a war though, that's what It usually sounds like around here.

Thanks bud!

Jackflap, we always seem to see eye to eye on allot of different stuff. I like your style! As for the traditional hunting, you could do It as well. Just takes time and a bit more patience and your good to go. Give It a try sometime, I think you would enjoy It.

Thanks Jackflap.

Dammit!!! Got rained on all morning lightly then It slowly came on harder and finally I said that's enough. I was soaked through. I did see 5 deer. 2 doe's and 2 fawns and a rack less buck. Remember that thread I had a few days ago on "Check out this doe" http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=3142756. Well for the people who said It was a BB, you are wrong.:D I seen this same deer (buck) at 20 yards this morning. He's right around a 150lb deer. He has a rutted up neck, ears pinned back like he was going to kick someone's ass!! And man was he on the move with his nose to the ground! He's a solid 2.5 year old deer no doubt.

Not the 6th...but almost...

November 8th is the most important day of my hunting career. November 8th is a day that will stick with me forever Steve. When I was 11 years old I shot my first deer with a Bear Kodiak Magnum recurve...45 pounds@ 28with a feather rest and easton 1916 arrows and a satalite broadhead....

remember those...???Whatever happened to the Satelite heads?...or razorbacks?Bear Heads? I must be in my 30's.
