another ground blind question
 

I cant seem to sit still enough in a tree stand for long periods of time. So, Im looking at trying out a ground blind.

I was wondering if anyone has seen or tried the AMERISTEP Dominator or the AMERISTEP CHOICE blinds.

I like the DOMINATOR as its tall enough for meto stand up comfortably but it has shoot through screens I dont like.

I like the CHOICE blind for its 3D affects and no screens to shoot through but I couldnt stand and shoot comfortably.

Both available at same price of $290

Any feedback welcome please

If you can't sit still long, the one with the shoot through screens may be your best bet as it will cover more of your movement than regular window openings probably will. I'm honestly not familiar with the blinds in question, so I cuoldn' tell you for sure. Also if the one with screens has enough room for you to be comfortable, that is the blind you should be going with. Comfortis the most important factor to sitting still for a long periopd of time.

My blind (Primos Ground Max) has shoot through screens, but I take those out on my two most likely shooting paths. I don't like the angle I get when I stand up in the blind, so I shoot (and practice shooting) while kneeling. It gives me a lot of movement and better angles. I only open a couple of windows at a time minimizing the movement a deer can possibly see.

I have an Ameristep Blind, not sure of the model got it 2 years ago. Anyways it has the shoot thru screens but you can also take them out by unzipping them. When i do hunt out of it i leave the back screens in and take out the ones i expect a shot thru.

You say you like the dominator but dont like the shoot through screens. Aren't they removeable?

I have many (6) different ground blinds but neither of these. I am not familiar with any that do not have mesh windows that are either totally removable or canslide out of the way


Even if you do not like to shoot through the screens you can still use them to your advantage. Use screens where you do not have a shooting lane. This way you can draw your bow when you are behind the screen from the deers point of view

I know the screens are removable in mine. How else would you be able to replace them. It's an escape deluxe.

Another vote for the GroundMax blinds. They are awesome for the price. Cabela's has an exclusive one in Predator Deception. They do have shoot through mesh windows, but they are removable. It is spacious. The regular GroundMax Deluxe retails for around $120-/+ and the Predator Deception one goes for $140. Well worth the price in my mind.

I have three Double Bull Archery (now Primos Double Bull)blinds, 2 Matrix and 1 T2. I wouldn't hunt with any other. They don't make the Matrix anymore but youcan get one that's real similar called the Dark Horse. It can be used with the netting up or down.

If you don't want to lug around a Matrix, Dark Horse, go with the T2. It's not as big but it is much lighter.

I have a dominator and I have problems taking it down, it doesn't seem to want to fold up very well, one of the pivot points seems to stick. I have only had it for a year and I have already ripped one of the metal eyelets right out of the fabric. If anyone has a dominator and has any sort of instructions on taking it down, give me a shout please. Other than those 2 problems I like it. My screens zip out but I prefer to leave them up. I've shot through them twice with no problems and I think they really help with concealment, I have had2 deer within 10 yards with the screens up. I usually hunt out of a tree but I hunt the blind when the weather dictates it and when I want to eat lunch or take a nap.
