In my opinion you did the ethical thing! That buck (missing both eyes) would have not lasted very long at all if there are anyyotes at all around there. No worries!!

There needs to be more hunters out there like you. You have proven a true love for the animals you pursue. My hat is off to you. I did the same thing several years ago. I shot a 6pt that stumbled by with his front leg half shot off. I have never regreted that.
