HammytheHunter, yup, it's my second Halloween buck and I've had several that fell very close one day either side of it. It's a good time to be in the woods. It's going to get better from here.

Rob, I have been waiting all weekend to read this post. I was out in the woods all day yesterday and went back today to pull my trail camera and set up a new stand sight after what I saw yesterday so this is the first I've gotten to read it.

It was well worth the wait. Congrats buddy, I can't tell you how happy I am for you. He is a great, buck and a Rob buck in the truest sense. He is going to look great as a mount and I'm sure you are proud of him, as well you should be.

Huntingbry, thanks for enjoying it. I am proud and still think about the whole scenerio. I was totally honest when I say I was nervous as hell while he was walking in. Once he committed all he needed to do was turn up or down hill and he was in range. With the outcome, I'm glad he kept coming giving me such a close shot. It didn't help though when he came straight and then looked up at the camera. I wonder if he saw the lens or what. I know he was looking directly at it. The lens was pointing right at him and all I need to do was turn it on earlier. I'm kinda kicking myself now as I think we all would have enjoyed the footage and I know I would have. Oh well, the end product is some great photos, meat's in the freezer for bologna, great friends to enjoy it with and in just over a year, [&:], another great mount to adorn my walls. Thank you again. I look forward to more of your own.

Rob, I'm sure you were really wanting to get that guy on film. It's so hard to try to film yourself though. I can appreciate why you couldn't get it on film. Trust me, put in your boots I would have done the same thing. I'll never give up a shot unless I'm on a paid hunt with a cameraman with the express intent of getting footage. For us average Joes doing it ourselves we've got to get what we can and take advantage of the few precious opportunities we get. You my friend, took full advantage of yours.

Bry, I know but had I only turned it on. The buck would have walked directly into the frame when he stopped and looked up. That would have been incredible footage but alas, like you said, it is what it is and I have a lifelong memory plus fantastic photos and friends to share them with. Thank you.

OKbowhuner20, Thank you and thank you for mentioning the photos. Photography is all part of the hunt. I'm always taking pictures when afield. It means a lot to me. I'm going to post a thread of photos through out the season. I hope you enjoy that one as well. I'll probably wait until after my IL trip next week when my seasons come to a close for the most part.
