South Dakota Buck Down

I can't be the only guy on here from South Dakota that has scored this year so far...I shot this buck about 3 1/2weeks ago in Eastern South Dakota and it was one of the shortest, yet best hunts I have been on. Things just went picture perfectthat day.

Just after legal shooting time started for the day,this buck jumped a fence 35 yards from me and came right into my shooting lane at12 yards.First look, I knew he was a shooter,so I quit looking at his rack and picked a spot, shotand watched my arrow bury in just the right spot.He went about 20 yards behind me in some brush and I thought I heard him tip over, but I never saw him go down. I waited about an hour in the stand just to be sure, and when I got down to look for my arrow, I could see antlers 20 yards away. Man I love it when a plan comes together!

I am hoping to see some other South Dakota boys posting somebig bucks soon...I saw a nice buck pushingdoes around tonight so the time is here!

Thats a dandy! I am heading up to Pollock SD this weekend, chasing Mulies and Whitetails. Hopefully I can get close enough, I know its going to be a challenge.

Thanks for the kind responses everyone...

This was not an outfitter hunt...I shot him on a small piece of private land that I have hunted most of my life.

I currently live outside of Garretson, SD but I have a lot of family from the Watertown area. Bownanza, you need to get some pics of your deer on here!

Congrats that is a great deer. Im From Dell Rapids so we aint to far apart. I hunt by renner and have seen some dandys just have not been able to close the deal yet, shot both my doe opening weekend tho. Hoppfully now that the corn is coming out it will pick up a little!

Nice deer! Also not that far from you either.....

I've been out a lot, but it's been slow (at least for buck movement). Things should pick up with all the corn coming out - at least I would hope....
