RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
I'd shoot a Parker.
|
RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
Check out the new Martin Altitude too at $389.00 http://www.martinarchery.com/bows2002/alt.htm
If I didn't want to spend a lot, the Altitude is the bow I would be looking at. I own a HavocTec. I love it. I am still amazed at how little noise and vibration there is. I can't wait to take it hunting! |
RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
Hoyt first then the reflex
|
RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
Pearson

RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
Navy all that I can tell you is that I now own a Mathews Q2 and it is undoubtedly that smoothest shooting bow that I have ever owned. I have owned bows from PSE,High Country,Onieda,Clearwater and Bear and I don't think that I will ever buying anything but a Mathews again. JMHO

RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
Check out Champion bows. Good price with lifetime backing .
|
RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
whats the matthews q2 run in price?
|
RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
Q2 probably goes for around $650 and I like it so much I'm thinking about getting another one.
|
RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
Another vote for mathews have a Q2 and would buy another.
|
RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
Definately Hoyt. I've got my eyes on the Havoctec too. The PSE Firestorm also interests me.
|
RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
Check out the Buck Bows, made by champion, great prices, lifetime warranty.
|
RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
www.championbow.com, merlin, Highcountry, hoyt, darton,so many to choose from. But take a close look at champion, life time warranty not limited, I beleive its a you break it we will fix it warranty. Good luck, Dylan

RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
Havoctec all the way! The tech riser literally does takeaway the handshock and vibration.
|
RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
Can I choose "None of the above".
|
RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
Reflex makes a great bow for the money, also look at the mathew FX (around $400) and check out Champion (e-mail them & ask for a 2002 catalog, they look really nice!).
the champion storm would be a hard bow to beat for the money as is the mathews FX & the denali by reflex. the main thing is to get the bow that feels best to you in everyway. what works for me may not work for you! |
RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
if your only choosing from those three and money is no object. i would buy the mathews sq2. it shoots about 305 to 309 ibo. if money was an object then i would still buy the sq2. that reflex denalli is slow at about 290 to 298 ibo. the hoyt i have no idea, never wanted to own one.

RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE

RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
Since you narrowed down your selection, if I was you I'd buy the one YOU like best.
For the record, I shoot a Q2 and won't be looking for another bow for a long time. "Hunt smart, know your target and beyond" |
RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
if you can get your hands on them..shoot them all and then make your decision. For the money, if I were to go back to wheels, I would go hoyt but thats my opinion based soly on the Mn VS Wi mindframe !
|
RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
This is a "no-brainer" .
Mathews Q2, 34 inch axle to axle length, 7-7.5 inch brace height, 308 IBO speed, Price: $570-$650 Hoyt Havoctec, 31.5 inch axle to axle length, 7.5 inch brace height, 300 IBO speed (Versacam), Price: $570-$650 Reflex Denali, 34 inch axle to axle length, 8.5 inch brace height, 295 IBO speed (Versacam), Price $330-$400. The Denali is slightly slower than the other two bows but it is also has a larger brace height which should make it more forgiving. The price difference is huge!!..and if price is even a small issue then the Denali should be your choice. But, as someone stated above, the "feel" of the bow in your hands is extremely important. The Denali and Havoctec are probably going to feel similar because they have a very similar grip...the Mathews will feel entirely different. The draw cycle between the Havoctec and Denali will feel very similar because they both use, basically, the same cam. The Mathews will feel different. ...and, if you don't pay an arm and a leg for the bow itself then you will have money left over to pay for some decent accessories....arrows, sights, rest, etc.... Just my opinion....:) |
RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
Frank, I think you are finally starting to come around. You say it is a no brainer and then you list the Mathews first, I think this is a sign!!
But like they have said, shoot them. Get a feel for the different models and see what charecteristics you like in each and then make a choice based on that. Don't make the choice because of a name. Because if you did that, we all know you would buy the Mathews!(sorry Frank, I haven't bugged you in a while) I picked up my SQ2 for around 590 to just give you an idea. But I think PA prices are about right. My Updated Page with Colorado 2001 Trip- www.geocities.com/hfpmad |

RE: IF YOU HAD A CHOICE
If money is no object, shoot the bows and buy the one that feels good to you. I shoot a PSE and it is cheaper than the ones you listed and works great for me. Good luck.
