wearing a Hat????
ok, guys I always wear a face mask of some sort while on stand or on the ground, hunting. Everyone I see on TV and the photos of most of the people on this site wear hats (ball caps, boonies, etc..) What is the main purpose of this, just wondering if there is some type of advantage to this or not. So what are your guys reasons for wearing one??? Thanks

RE: wearing a Hat????
A ball cap seems to shade and funnel the eyes in a way.
When I don't wear one, the sky seems bright if that makes sense. Oh, and hunting is the only time I ever where a hat, well that and if it's raining when doing my job. ;) |
RE: wearing a Hat????
I am a recovering "hat o holic." I now only wear one about 30 percent of the time outside of hunting. I wear one always while hunting. It shades the sun, blocks the wind, and sheilds my glasses from ill placed rain drops. This is the first year I have had glasses. A brimmed ball cap is a must for a drizzle day.In the same wayI take my quiver off to hunt because that is how I shoot all year, I like to hunt in a ball cap, because thats what I usually shoot all year.

RE: wearing a Hat????
If I'm awake I've pretty much got a ball cap on. I like one when hunting to keep my head warm and thus myself. Remember we loose most of our body heat through our head. They help keep the glare from the sunlight down too. I rely on them more for that when I'm waterfowl hunting though.

RE: wearing a Hat????
Because chicks dig scars and baseball caps. Its a proven fact...lol I do it to shade the eyes. Also a form of cover up(going bald is this reason).

RE: wearing a Hat????
Mainly wear a hat for the shade, especially when the sun is setting and those last 20 minutes of light after the sun has set. My eyes seem to focus better when they get used to the dark understory of the forest and don't have to be contrasted to the somewhat brighter horizon.
