bow hunting fall turkeys

I'm seeing alot of tukeys this fall and I was wondering if they responded to calls in fall or maybe a decoy.

They don't respond to calls like they do in the spring. You can't do a couple yelps and expect a boss tom to come in on a rope. The best strategy for fall birds (other than tree stand sniping while deer hunting), is to run after a flock of birds and break them up so they scatter. Then, you can get them to come to a kee-kee-run call (re-assembly call).

I've been picked off in a tree more than I have on the ground. Just get in front of them and wait is all I do.

they do respond to calls, but don't call to them like you do in the spring. Turkeys are naturally social animals so if they hear another bird a lot of times they will come to check things out. I would stick with feeding calls (purrs and clucks) and maybe a few lonesome yelps here and there (to sound like a bird who is looking for company) or better yet a kee kee run (to sound like a lost, juvinile bird). good luck!
