The Question is...
 

what are your experiences? Ok, so you are sitting quietly in your stand. You hear the familiar crunch, crunch, pause, crunch behind you. You don't move a muscle. You strain your peripheral vision to the point you feel cross-eyed and dizzy. Finally you see the gray-brown movement in the brush. You get ready. The antlers pop up at 10yds. You know you will take him. He takes 3 more steps. You wait. He stops behind brush at 15yds, lifts his head, looks one way, then towards you. You are feeling your heartbeat in your fingernails. He looks directly at you. You don't bat an eye. He looks at you for 10 seconds. No shot. He turns and walks away. Never alarmed in the least. No snorting, blowing, or anything to indicate he was spooked.

Will he come back to that spot?

I've been spotted and blown at.....and had him come back to that spot (behind a doe, each time). Each time he didn't know what I was.....just got antsy. He walked away each time like nothing was really wrong......just got antsy.

The buck I killed last year was at 0 yds to me on 3 occasions without offering me a shot. There isn't 500yds between the first place I spotted him and the spot where I finally took him. I had6 encounters with him before taking him....and he knew I was there (or "something" was up) on 4 of those (not counting the one he died in).

Hard to say if he'll come by the same tree, again....as I don't hunt the same tree very often. He got antsy with me 11/3, last year.....and I moved up the line 40 yds and killed him on 11/6.

I don't think the gig's up......nto at all....but I know they (bucks) are all different....and will tolerate different levels of intrusion, differently.

Like GMMAT I dunno if he'll come to THAT SPOT but he'll remain in the "area" Mix it up a bit, stay close, but I wouldn't climb the same tree.

This is my sentiments exactly. I have "overhunted" the same tree(s) in the past with bad results. I am curious if I should leave the stand (Loc On), and put another stand on a tree a ways away? I am extremely close to a doe bedding area and only hunt with a near perfect wind. The only problem is, with a perfect wind for the bedding area, I have to be where "he" is gonna come from (downwind). I think I have a spot figured out. I just need to get in the tree just a tad downwind of where he is coming from to scent-check the doe beds.

LT....if you have a climber....and a climb-able tree within 40 yds or so, I'd leave the lock-on in place for the future. No sense in vacating, totally.

I have no idea if you have an abundance of climb-able trees or not. That would make a big difference.

Like I said......good luck. If you know he's in there....you know you have to get back on him. I hope you get him.

I think I am going to have to trim some small branches to make a suitable tree for one of my climbers (I have an Openshot and a Viper). Dang tree limbs have got to go so I can get 20ft at least. I think I will try to trim these in the rain or wind to cut down on my noise, being so close to a bed.

I've taken a fold-able pruning saw with me and gone in a little early to hunt the same morning. If you go in early enough, they're not "home" anyways.

How old of a buck Is he LT? That would make a huge difference on him coming back to that spot or not If he saw or smelled you. Who says he even seen you? He could of been looking right through you.

i was going to recommend exactly what Jeff said....just jump to a different tree just incase he did kinda peg you....watch your scent and entrance and exit trails as well....

you werent straight up busted...so i think your odds of seeing him again are good

LT can speak to his deer, Schultzy.....but mine was 4.5yrs.
