Removing quiver
I keep seeing and hearing about people removing their quiver while hunting and shooting. Well my question is why? I have a two piece quive that bolts on to the bow and have never even thought about taking it off to shoot.

They are heavy, make your bow unbalanced, andcan make your bow shoot differently than without it on due to canting or rotational torque that occurs when that weight is shifted at the shot..........so if you practice in the offseason with it OFF does it make any sense to hunt with it on?
There is no worse piece of equipment to leave on a bow IMO than a big fat fully loaded quiver. I hate them.[:'(] But hey if it works for you.........:D |

i remove also, its just one more thing to hit aganst the stand and make a noise

I remove it mainly because I shoot all season without it. Also I always feel like all those bright fletchings moving around when your getting your bow up is a big flag waving. I remember seeing a guy on a hunting show with a 6 arrow quiver full of arrows, white wraps and white fletchings, and regardless of all the camo he had on, that mass of white stood out like a turd in a punch bowl. The huge buck that came incaught him moving when he was getting his bow up. Maybe it wasnt the arrows, but ever since then Ive been paranoid about it.

My quiver is off when I practice, and it is off when I hunt.
I never even put it on my bow. I keep it in my pack. |

The quiver I have on these days is a two piece quiver that can't be removed. I shoot with it on my bow all year so I don't take it off when I am in the tree. I have never had any problems shooting with it on.

I leave mine on all the time, full of arrows (practice or hunting) and never had a problem either. It really makes no big difference either way - its all in how you practice and what you are used to.

i practice with it on and with it off, so if im walking to the stand i'll be ready to shoot with it on. but in stand i take it off because its too bulky and gets hung-up.

I always take it off. As matt said your bow is unbalanced. I also dont like the idea of bright fletching waving around... Just one more thing on your bow to get in the way and make sound...

I don't have a quick release on on my FireStorm Lite, but when I did on my Spyder I took it off when ever I could. It definitely made it lighter and actually solved a vibration/noise problem I had with that bow. I would like onenow. When I get some extra money I'm planning on updating my bow, probably for next season. Such as a quick release quiver, a NEW rest/string, sights, etc. I just need a make-over I think. By the way, when can you hunt next week? We need to get out together. |

I like to take mine off for all the reasons stated. Another reason is on a windy day you will be suprised at how the wind can catch the quiver thus making it somewhat more unstable.

I always take my quiver off when in stand. However, I do take a few practice shots with it on so I know just in case I get caught in a situation where I need to shoot with it on my bow. I've not noticed any ill effects at the ranges I tend to shoot at, but I still prefer to take it off every chance I get.

mine is a two piece permantly on works fine for me . It is right there for a follow up shot or a 2nd deer that stays around

But, if you leave your quiver on all of the time and practice with it on, and you are profficient, then I don't think there would be any issues with it. |

Take it off for all the reasons already stated, and I rest my bow across my lap while in stand. It just doesn't balance right on my lap with the arrows resting on my legs.

i figure...a quiver is meant to hold arrows...i need to shoot arrows...why take it off....jsut something else to fumble for if you have to take a quick second shot.....quivers are meant to be on the bow not off...i pratice with mine on and full of arrows every time i shoot...weather it be a 3D leage or jsut shooting at the house

I guess I'm in the minority. I practice with mine on (hunting bow) and I hunt with it on most of the time (I've removed it only twice in 37 hunts, so far). I KNOW it's easier for me to get a second arrow (or more) with it in close proximity.
But hey if it works for you.........:D |

I always buy an extra quiver bracket, and screw that puppy to the rail of my climber, so my arrows are always in reach when I take the quiver off. It's out of the way, but I can grab a follow uparrow with one handif needed.

Well since I never even thought of it before now, and i have good results both hunting and practicing. I believe I will just pretend I never thought of it so I dont force myself to spend money on yet another piece of hunting equipment ie: quick release quiver. I really need to find cheaper forms of enjoyment.

where do you guys put the quiver when you take it off? I find limited space on the treestand.

I strap it to my stand behind my right elbow in my climbers. In my lock-ons, I use a hook or tree branch.
