Where to aim on bear?
I might be presented w/ a shot at a bear this weekend. I know I should aim a little farther back from the front shoulder than I would on a deer, but does anyone have a 'anatomy' picture of a bear? I dont want to take a bad shot.
Thanks. |
RE: Where to aim on bear?
Same as a whitetail. Just remember that a bear can have long hair at times and what you think Is the bottom of there belly Is just fur. In saying that though treat It just like a deer when aiming. Aim behind the shoulder and your good to go If you hit there.

Same as a whitetail, just be sure to PICK A SPOT. They tend to look like a black blob.

ORIGINAL: MN/Kyle Same as a whitetail, just be sure to PICK A SPOT. They tend to look like a black blob. I finally got a decent broadside on this one but still hit her a little back. I did get a pass through. She went along way but the slick trick broadheads opened up a devastating hole on both sides. Good luck on your bear hunt. ![]() |
RE: Where to aim on bear?
Right behind the shoulder and right at mid body, but that depends on the angle. I usually aim a touch higher than on a whitetail but that's mostly due to the hair factor that Shultzy mentioned and that I actually aim low on whitetails. (You don't have to worry about a bear ducking your arrow/jumping the string.)
