Relese shooters, ever practice w/o?

Just wondering who all practices w/o their release in the event that you forget it? This weekend my hunting bud got in his stand Saturday morining w/o his and missed a doe twice before he got her on the third shot.

If you do practice w/o, what differences do you notice?

I don’t practice without my release. If something happens, my hunt is over, that’s the risk I’ll take. If I practiced enough to feel confident shooting my compound with fingers for a “just in case” scenario, I would just hunt that way all the time.

I left mine at the truck once when I first started, bought a back-up to keep in my pack soit wouldn't happen again. I've never tried it, but I'm sure someone has.

Yes I do and depending on your setup it's very difficult.

Most cannot.

I keep a back up. I lost mine in the woods once and it ended my hunt. I didn't even thinkabout trying to shoot a deer without it.

You really can't shoot a bow tuned for a release with fingers. The way the arrow bends it needs side-pressure to help it fly straight. Most release shooters use a shoot-thru or prong-type rest. Even with a Wisker Biscuit the arrow wouldn't hit the same as with a release.

Check it out; this is a fingers-release:

With amechanical-release the arrow arches upward because the string stays in-line with the arrow.

Why Is that? To much finger pinch? I know a good share of people who still shoot fingers with there new compounds.

That's exactly what I thought Shultzy. Figured there was too much pinch with these new bows.
