NEW PROPERTY Need Help with aerial pics
I have gotten access to a new piece of property here in KS, where on this aerial pic is a good place to start. Don't want to go tromping around at this stage of the season. Just want to find some good potential stand sites and hunt them without spooking deer. One note is that road 4 is no longer there but the rest are still usable. The river that runs throught the property is about twenty yards across and has a fair amount of water in it. Most of the trees are cottonwoods and the openings throughout the trees are CRP. The irrigated circles on the west side(left side of map) is irrigated alfalfa, but after a freeze (next week) will go into winter dormancy and many of the deer will quit feeding in them, but as of now deer are using them somewhat. Area shown is about two miles long and two miles wide. O road sits about 20 foot higher than the actual river bottom but other than that the area is flat. Any ideas will be appreciated.

So where are the boundaries on this property. Do you have access to the enter area, or are there boundaries you have to stay within?

Winter wheat, but need a couple weeks before the deer will start using them....

Here are some of the spots I would look at. Most of the spots are along the river bottom where it either narrows down significantly, widens out significantly or meets up with some field edges.

I'd try finding a topo map and post that up as well. Sometimes the topos can be much more helpful, especially when looking at those really thick river bottoms.

It is so hard to tell from this pic as to how thick the cover is . I would look for slight ridges. Narrow funnels between bedding cover and what fields they my be targeting, especially if the funnel goes right to the field edge. Best of luck bud, looks like it has alot of potential.
