Deer Pic

Just wanted to know what you guys think of this Deer....

I'm trying to decide if I should take him. I'm guessing that he may be a 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 Yr old....

I do have to nice Bucks roaming around an 8, and a 10... This guyseems to have bad jeans. Normally the deer on my property have a little bigger rack at 2 1/2 then this guy. So I was just wondering if I should take him, or give him another year.

Any opinions r welcome.... Thanks

I say that's a young deer.

I personallydon't thinkthat 1 person 'selectively harvesting' deer on free-range land makes much of an impact.

i would have said 1.5 or 2.5, i definatley don't think its a 3.5 year old deer.

Looks like a 1.5 year old to me. His back has absolutly zero sag and he has no pot belly like an older deer would have. But if he would make you happy...let the montec's eat!!

Sounds good guys.... Thanks for all the advice.I will pass on him. I have 100acres attached too another 300 ac farm that also follows the same QDM. Which is basically six & up/ or 3 1/2 yr old.So He should live. He was a hard one for meto judge just because of the body compared to the other deer on the property. There are two six points that look smaller then him(in body size), and the 8 point that I mentioned has almost the same body as he does... except that you can clearly see on the 8 that he has a larger neck/chest. Last year my brother took an old deer with bad jeans...So I was just hoping not tohavebad jeans runningaround. But I will let him ride and take notice to his progress next year. Thanks again for all your advice.

If you want him take him, but he is a young deer for sure

I don't know where you are from. But in central IL, bucks with good genetics go from a button buck at 6mo. to a six point at 1.5. Here, that is not a deer I would want to breed/reproduce. Just my 2cents.

I say you shouldn't discriminate based on a deer's pants!

Let him go another year, and check his growth next year. He looks a little young to me.

With that way of thinking nobody would. What will ever get done with that attitude? It takes one spark to start a fire. I say let that guy grow.

I really do not know how old his is right now. However, I do know one thing for certain. If you kill him this year, he will not get any bigger. If he lives, he will get bigger. Pretty simple, now you decide if want to shoot this deer.
