Nice work guys! It's weird seeing that spot without any food in it this year?
Great shot and good footage but give Ben just a small sack TAP for not getting down tighter on the deer before you shot. ;)
Way to hang tight on the animl as it ran away though that camera arm must be very fluid. I've seen veteran production crews punt that one more times than not.

Is that the first doe you've shot on that property?[:-]

The arm is very fluid, kudos to Pass_Thru for his product. (Camera arm).

Matt, that is the first doe in a very, very long time. Since pre '2000 for sure. It just wasn't necessary but I'm seeing an abundance this year.

I said the same thing to Ben for the zoom on the shot, it could have been slightly tighter but his concern as he said was getting the animal leaving. This is only his second attempt so I say Awesome job.

Your rest sounded loud, to me. Must be the proximity to the mic.
No MN, it's loud, I've shot this bow so damn much it wore out the shrink wrap on the prongs, I'll fix that tonight.

Whats up with that buck??? His tail never moves and it stuck in the half up position. Usually when a deer moves it wags its tail before they move and that buck's tail never even twitched. I would say there is some sore of muscle damage. Who ever shot that deer should try and get out there and finish him off. Just my opinion is all.

V8, he was wagging his tail plenty prior to coming out of the woods. That's how I spotted him. I'll check the rest of the footage to see. We videoed him much longer than we've shown. Also, if I suspected in the least that this animal was suffering I would have shot and tagged him in a heart beat. I had ample opportunity to watch him. My cousin shot this buck Friday morning.

Great work guys. Cool footage all the way around. Ben good job. Way to pull back and find the doe as she fled and then push back in on her to capture her dropping.

Rob, I love the reaction. That right there is what hunting is all about.

Congrats to both of you.
Thanks Bry, I was hoping you'd chime in on it. Ben did great.

I wonder what broadhead he was using?
Muzzy 100 grain 3 blade, I asked and quizzed him on his assessment and just another example how the eyes don't see what happened. He said he hit it high above the shoulder after his arrow hit a sapling. Keep that in mind for the arrows path, it could have been kicked up.

Always look forward to these videos you've been putting out. Nice job.

BTW, Nice meeting you yesterday, wish I would have had more time to BS.
It was nice meeting you Kevin, lol everyone, funny story, I was working in a neighboring town when a car pulled over and a guy get's out and says Rob? Kevin recognized me from the forums and introduced himself. Very cool.

Thanks Brett, Greg, everyone. I'm happy you enjoy them.

Nice video Rob and Ben. Good shot Rob. That six point looks like he might make it, had to be painful though. Cool videos. Make me glad we don't have bears around here yet. I'll pass.

That photo was taken with the GL2 and my truck headlights...:D

Thanks.

Duke,

I was pumped and then rattled, pumped and then rattled, you know, it goes in cycles. :D

What's everyone's thoughts on that, the fact she was alone and dry? No fawns this year obviously but ya'll think she could have been barren. She's no doubt mature.

Very cool indeed. Perfect shot on a fat doe. Obviously the buck is doing well now and if his body keeps infection at bay he will live to see another arrow.:) Thanks for the enjoyable video. The camo looks great too! Chris

Rob:

I notice you put in your thread and in the broadhead success threads .....a notice that the doe was "Dry".

Why?

Rob:

Why?
Dunno bud, she had no fawns with her and she had no milk in her teets. I don't know if she was barren or she just wasn't bred last fall. Perhaps she was sterile or missed out on fall luvin...lol either way, she was dry and a great doe to take.

If she was in fact barren, she was useless to the herd. That was the first doe I've taken out of my honey hole in over 8 years.

RE: Doe Down on Video. (Videos and Pics)

Cool Rob. I am so glad you said how excited you were even though it was "only" a doe. I LOVE shooting does cause generally you know you are going to have more action than waiting on a mature buck.

Oh yea, quiet that rest down;)

RE: Doe Down on Video. (Videos and Pics)

So if they have no milk in their sacs at 10/13.....they didn't drop a fawn?

Interesting. I didn't know that. Only one of mine had milk in her sac.....but that was over two weeks ago. So I can assume the other two didn't drop this year?

If so....I feel better, now. Last night I was in the same area I shot the doe saturday (the one that came in with two yearling does and two fawns). Last night the two fawns came by at 4:45 and sniffed all around where I recovered the doe (for 5-10 minutes). I just assumed they were hers.

RE: Doe Down on Video. (Videos and Pics)

Jeff & Rob,

I don't know this, it's more of a question. Do you think if the doe's fawn dies real early on or is still born, will she be done lactating by fall? I've killed only a couple "mature" does that had no milk, but I don't think they were so old as to be barren. Just another possiblity.

It can be surmised that she didn't drop fawns. All the other doe we've been seeing have fawns with thwm and one tried to nurse. Matt's doe was full of milk and had this doe had fawns this year, she would have had milk as well unless she dropped them way early and pushed them off (BB's). I cannot tell you the last time I shot a doe that didn't have milk.

OH and Matt filmed a doe that had a fawn with spots with her up at RJ's. ;) Yeah, Oct and spots. [8D]

Anywho, nothing is ever set in stone with whitetails and nothing ceases to surprise me with them either anymore.

All I know was this nanny gave us an excited time and you know better than any how I get pumped and rattled when taking animals with my bow, even turkeys. I love it.

If that's the case, Rybo...I sure feel better about the doe I took, Saturday. I can't imagine why the fawns would have been over there sniffing if it weren't their mother.....but I guess anything is possible.

She was definitely a mature doe (if you saw the Doe no. 3 thread).

Great video Rob and Ben, Good Job!

Rob your arrow rest sure is noisy when you draw, maybe the boom mike enhanced it, but I certainly knew when your drew.

Your certainly allowed to get excited, heck I still get a pump shooting rabbits or squirrels..thats what it's all about!

I know it's loud, I wore off the shrink wrap from shooting it. I should get up right now and fix it...LOL but I'm cameraman the next two nights so I don't need it til Friday morn so I'll fix it by then. I was actually surprised the doe didn't hear it but it's true, the mic did pick it up probably better than we think. Thanks bud.

Well, after 16.5 hours on the road for a trip to my production shops, I am whooped. I had a smille on my face the whole way after last night's sit. What a hunt. Bears, bucks, and dead does, oh my.[8D] Rob made a textbook shot on a beautiful nanny. The 82nd and Easton combo just flat out tore through her. Glad I got to be a part of it. Thanks for the kind words fellas and thanks for another awesome night afield Rob.;)

Welcome home Ben, that's a long day. Tomorrow night you'll forget all about it when we're on stand for possibly not only your first buck with a bow and/or you first deer on film, buck or doe!
